Fingerprint Scanner Not Working Well

If you're like the rest of people here that must be driving you crazy....lol

Sometimes they come sooner depending on who you purchased from.

You're right. I've lost my mind all because of a phone lol.

Mine works great. I was worried about this. Mine even unlocks in a car dock while bouncing down the road. I must be one if the lucky ones.

Buy a watch and set up smart lock... problem solved...

I have a Gear S3 and it asked if I wanted to use smart lock with it. I didn't use it because I didn't really understand it.

If I understand it correctly, doesn't it just deactivate any screen locks so you just press the power button to unlock the phone?

If that's the case, I don't want to do it as anyone would be able to unlock my phone while wearing my watch.

That's why I don't use my watch for that. I could be away from my phone a short distance and anyone can unlock the phone. I'm not always right next to my phone

Thanks for the info. So I did in fact understand it correctly.

Just out of curiosity, why would anyone even want to use this feature?

I use it with my Bluetooth headset while working. I'm the only one there and the headset stays at work, so it's nice to only have to swipe to open the phone. If you're a single person and only one in your home, then locking your phone while home isn't that important. It's more for convenience

Makes sense, thanks for the clarification.

FPS works less than 20% of the time. I switched over to Face ID. I scanned my thumb 4 times. Rarely was able to unlock quickly.

Probably a lot of reasons. Some may very well have hardware that may not be working as well as others, some may have physical issues that could cause a problem (moisturegate?), and some percentage of people will just flat out be doing something wrong. The real question is what are the true percentages of those various scenarios? Not likely that we'll ever know.

Why do some people not have issues with it working. I don’t get it.

I don't know. I sit here and ask myself why do some people have issues. I think do they not know how to program their prints, can't they understand how to press the scanner, and so on. Then I realize that they are probably trying everything they read here. My only thought is everyone's skin is different and that's what is causing the issues. We might find out that this type of FPS won't work for a lot of people. Trust me, I've been on your side before, crazy mad why mine won't work and everyone else's seems to work.
