Fingerprint Sensor Disappointing

With my S10 I learned not to press down on the screen like I was trying to squish a spider. Rather, gently lay your finger down. Worked 90 percent of the time.

It is when unlocking, but just as fast when used for signing into app or Samsung pass.

That is not my experience with apps like last pass or Fidelity. It takes noticeably longer to acknowledge the fingerprint. Whether it is unlocking the phone or accessing an app.

Check out Samsung pass. Just tried with a few apps and the fingerprint recognition was pretty much instant for me.

I swear you would think this phone was something made in 2010 with all the complaints its getting on this forum. Wow

I have not seen any behavior in speed that I would consider abnormal or would impact my life. Does the delay cause you that much grief?

I have found the FPS on the S20 plus to be much better than my S10 plus. I do still have the protector on that came with the phone so will have to see how it goes when I switch.

Like someone else said, try registering the same finger twice. Originally I had a horrible time getting the fingerprint sensor to work...then I did the same finger twice and its been way better. Not 100% but a good 90-95% of the time it works on the first try now.

Since you can add 4 prints, can you scan the same print 4 times?
Yes but it's overkill. The best thing I have found is to scan as many different part of the finger as possible. I even scan between the tip and first knuckle. I use two spots for my right thumb. I for the left thumb and the last for my pointer finger.

Another tip and I know it will sound crazy to others, but it works for me and I rarely have any failures with fps all the way back to the S10+. Make sure to scan your prints doing normal things that you occassionally do when you unlock your phone ie while on the charger, while it's laying on the table. Make sure the positions are the same as they would be when you normally unlock your phone.

I find it pretty much the same as my S10. When it wants to work quick, it works instantly. But there are times when it won't read my finger at all and it forces me to enter my pin. That said, has anyone tried to register "other" body parts to the finger print scanner instead of fingers? Nose, toe, other body parts just to see what would happen? I was just thinking, I could potentially be the first person on the planet to register and unlock their phone with their.....nah...there's a lot of weirdos out there, I'm sure someone has already tried it and God forbid they actually do spy on your cameras.... :D

Yea think you're late lol. They have been people that said they've registered their toes. Idk why but you can do it.

I said it was noticeably longer than my previous phone. Grief? No. But it is an annoying step backwards.

I have the factory installed screen protector on. I can't get the fingerprint detector to work hardly at all. How do you remove that screen

I'm not finding leaving the screen protector on impeding the performance of the scanner over my S10 that had it removed. One thing I like about the stock screen protector is that it seems like your fingers slide across it much easier than the bare glass. I might leave it on for that reason alone. But like other people said, move your finger around when you're initially registering them and like the guy above said place the phone in positions you would normally use the phone.

Just got the S20+ today and got both the fingerprint and facial recognition going. Can both work at the same time? Which one is quicker?

Both will work but facial is quicker if you looking at the device because by the time you are able to press the FPS the phone will already be open.

people still using facial rec?? i thought that was no longer secure enough to be really trusted.
