Fingerprint Sensor Disappointing

I sent an S20+ back cause it would not register my right thumb print regardless of how many times I attempted. It would recognize my other thumb, either of my index and middle fingers but not the right thumb. Reset the phone twice, still no luck. Samsung didn't hesitate to tell me I could return, and I did.
And before anyone asks, my right thumbprint is readable with a Federally certified FAP 60 10 print (4-4-2) scanner used at my local Sheriff's department and I actually stopped in there, just to check and my thumbprint registered with no problem.

It was a strange affair, but hey, Samsung was great it taking it back, and I just ordered a Pixel 4XL. Hopefully, my face works better than my thumbprint.:D

(And facial rec is being accepted by more and more companies as time goes on.)

The OnePlus is not superior as it needs light to read your fingerprint and doesn't work if your finger is wet or damped. I have fairly big hands and don't run into any issues with placement. I would rescan some prints and make sure your getting it from every angle that you normally use to unlock your phone.

I’ve had the S10+, Note 10+, and the OnePlus 7 Pro McLaren, and the OnePlus’s FPS is objectively better in all situations. By far.

I have S20 and it has worked pretty much every time. Its just not as fast as the 1+7 Pro FPS. But its fine. Wish there was different animation for it, like the 1+7 Pro has.

I've had those phones as well excluding the 7 pro but have the 6T. You can't even use the fps without the screen being on as it's not ultra sonic and requires light from the display. Will just agree to disagree on that one.

Here's a video where you can see he didn't have any issues unlocking the S10 everytime he tried with his finger.

Had the S10+ and the FPS Sucked, Had the Note 10+ X2 and the FPS sucked, was hoping it would be a little better by now on the S20 Ultra. I'll find out if I ever get the phone.

I've had the S10 and the S20+ now, both the fingerprints suck so bad. It's a matter of luck whether or not it'll work.

Guess I'm hella lucky because I've rarely had issues out of the S10+, Note 10+ and now the S20 Ultra. The key is knowing the placement of the fps which most don't and blame that on it failing. Attached is a video of me unlocking the phone by fingerprint several times. Just recorded and showed at the end that face unlock was not enabled only fps...

If you turn on AOD, it shows where to put your finger.

Thats so weird. Face unlock works good on the 4xl. Didn't have issues with it. Lots of banks and stuff still dont accept it though. Hopefully by the end of this year it will be fully supported.

I've had much better luck on the s20, granted the note 10 was decent after the many updates. I also run face unlock and fps. With lift to wake turned on the phone unlocks before I get a chance to use the fps most of the time. The fps works good enough for apps and passwords. I just hope Samsung comes out with new improved hardware for the note 20.

My s10 I wanted the throw out a window bc of the fps, then my note 10+ worked flawlessly. Order the ultra and it worked flawlessly, but returned it for the 20+ and this one works like crap :( lol figures.

Cool. He didn't have issues. I had a ton of them.

...when it works.
I've never had any troubles with mine on my Note 10+. It's not perfect, but I'd say the fail rate isn't all that much different than Face ID on my XS Max. It's a touch slower, but nothing terribly bad.

Yeah it's not perfect, but I haven't had trouble on my Note 10 or the Ultra. It works almost every time instantly and the failures are rare. Obviously it's not better than the old fingerprint sensors at the moment but doesn't bother since it works fine for me.
