FireTV Gamepad vs. Nexus Gamepad?

Does anyone own both the FireTV and Nexus gamepads? I own both devices but neither gamepad, and I am thinking about buying one of the two gamepads. I'm leaning towards the FireTV one since I'm guessing it'll be easier to use on both devices (i.e. maybe the FireTV will not be receptive of the Nexus one, but then again, since they're both just bluetooth devices, I'm guessing both will work on each other).

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone preferred one over the other. Thanks!

I"m going to bump this question, and add another one: Does anyone know if the Sony PS3 controller, which is a BT controller of sorts, can be used with the Nexus Player?

Last I read -- a few weeks ago -- root is generally needed to use PS3 remotes **wirelessly** on Android devices (there is some app that aids with this once root is setup). Correct me if I'm wrong please
