First impressions thread.

Mine came in while I was on a lunch break. Setup from S10 Plus to it was a breeze. Had ordered an ESR case and dbrand GRIP. The ESR is okay but like what the heck? There is still a bump so writing with the S Pen on a flat surface still has wobble. Hoping no issue with the dbrand.

Phone is fast and beautiful (SD865+, 128GB) and everything works great.

And Wireless DeX works great with my older 55" Samsung UHD TV. Especially considering I can load a workout video on it and play youtube music through my stereo and while it's a little laggy, still works amazing.

Only thing letting this phone down right now is battery life.

16:30 and it’s down to 27%. No doubt this will be put on a charger after i get home from the gym at 19:00-19:15ish.

Going to need to have look at ways to make this better. Maybe use AOD for tap to show....I’ve changed it to dark mode.

Will give it time to let the battery get used to my usage.

Very funny to see those two side by side, what is the old one 2011?
We have come a very long way in a fairly short time.
My first Note was the Note 2, it was massive big compared to everything else out there.

Yup! it came out 2011. I remember people telling me it was a big phone. Everyone else was into the small iPhone back then.

My phone arrived yesterday, it has taken me about 6 hours to remake the phone into my previous Note 10+ with notification sounds, icon placement, and updates. I go through that every new phone 📱. Just experienced 5G this morning, wow. The only thing is having to setup passwords for all those applications. This is noticeably faster overall. Just discovered that audio capture feature and it is fantastic. More later...

So glad you are loving it so far! 5G is pretty incredible!

Odd find, the new (to me) gesture option of swiping from the side to go back doesn't work with the stock Samsung keyboard unless I minimize it first. I like trying new stuff, but I may go back to swiping from the bottom. I keep swiping weird messages by mistake.

Another thing, for me coming from a N10+, I feel like the phone is snappier enough to be notificable. I'll be honest, I didn't think in that regard I'd be terribly impressed because I think the 10+ is a great phone even today.

I usually make those little adjustments to speed up stuff like removing transition, enabling developer options to speed things up, etc. I've done none of that on the 20U but it still feels more smooth and quick. Nice.

Just noticed the option to use multiple pictures from your gallery on your lockscreen. Samsung used to do this but then it was removed, me is happy:)

Now that I've gotten everything in order by making sure it matched my n10, I'm in my happy place and I can officially retire my n10 and send it back to att. The n20 ultra works great .

I only need to hope and pray I can put this screen protector on today. Lol

How did the screen protector installation go? :)

I will also have to repeat how much better the FPS is vs the 10+. I have the Whitestone Dome installed and it's still just a few days. I'll see if the FPS degrades over time like I experienced with the 10+ but it's as responsive as day one after registering my prints after installing the Dome.

And I only registered 3 fingers, and not multiple times - and each working pretty perfect.

Good to hear.

I have the Whitestone Dome Glass Screen Protectors waiting to be fitted once I recieve the phone and was hoping they are OK.

They were OK on my Note10 + 5G but sometimes I have to moisten my finger !

A couple of tips I picked up when setting up the finger prints are.

When setting up take x3 scans with each thumb and then rotate the phone around when taking further prints of each thumb so your phone can read both thumbs from the same finger print scan. Scan your prints as you would normally hold the phone.

Also using two fingers when setting up one fingerprint works pretty well.

Go into Settings . Biometrics and Security. Biometrics Preferences . Turn Off Screen Transition Effect.

Then go into Settings and search for Optomise Battery Usage. Tap in Optimise Battey Usage tap to show All and scroll down to com.samsung.android.biom and toggle Off

For me this improved the fps on my Note 10+ 5G which I appreciate is a different model to yours but should be the same outcome- hopefully.

I also have dry skin on my fingers and so find it sometimes beneficial to moisten my fingertip before unlocking the phone.

I noticed Google gestures are working with 3rd party apps like Nova launcher. I have been using Samsung gestures from good lock so long im not sure if its newly working or if it had been for a bit. Lol glad they are working now anyways.

OMG, I love this phone. Coming from iPhone 11Pro. This is unbelievable. First Note since the 7 (RIP). In love. I got the N20 Ultra 128GB in Mystic Black.

How’s the transition from Apple to Samsung? I’ve done it before but could never stick with my previous notes. 99% of those that I talk to are iPhones so iMessage is a really big thing for sending pictures and videos at high resolution. I just went into att and messed around with the demo model and liked it but still trying to do some research.

I did go from 11 pro to note ultra and love it so far

Battery life is my only issue so far. Love the S pen

I did the same. Battery not so bad but I'm rocking a Snapdragon. Am missing the Apple Watch though. My Watch 3 feels a bit like a poor relation.

Not really missing apple watch as the apps I use are just sport apps and fitness wise for me it's just as good

I'm annoyed AF, mostly because I cannot use the internet while a call is in progress. That's stone age BS in 2020. The S pen on left side is annoying but I hardly ever use it so not a huge deal. I don't like the screen unlock being a 2 step process.

Oh, no! Let us know when they arrive! I'm sure the installation will go well! :)
Ok so I messed up number one but I got it right with number two. There are a few bubbles but I won't see them once I put my case back on. All in all I got the darn thing on without cussing and my fps works great. Lol
The only thing I'm not a fan of is this is a tpu type plastic and I can definitely feel the difference . I guess I just need to get used to how it feels, but again at least I got a protector on it.lol
