First live pictures of 2016 Pixel leaks

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

Small bezels =/= good design.

There's more to design than screen to body ratio, and HTC have been at the forefront of Android in terms of aesthetic design. Small bezels is just an engineering feat - one that I don't think the general public care much for.

If reducing the bottom bezel meant a smaller battery, then I wouldn't agree with shaving off the bezel. I can put up with a larger bezel if it meant larger battery.

Yet they didn't put "a larger battery in." HTC was at the forefront for Front facing speakers, not too much anymore. Samsung has overtaken them in the hardware department. Not only did samsung create smaller bezels, they also managed to stick a larger battery in..

I really hope the screen is at least as good as the one on the 6p and a bit smaller in hand.

It should be. I Can't imagine them going with a worse screen. They could just be using the screen in the Galaxy 7 Edge. It also should be a bit smaller in the hand. The screen for the Marlin is 5.5" and should be smaller in dimensions too.

Comparing the dimensions of Nexus 5X to the HTC One A9 (which looks to be what the Sailfish version is based off):

Nexus 5X: 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm
HTC One A9: 145.8 x 70.8 x 7.3 mm*

So the Sailfish at least *should* be smaller physically than the Nexus 5X, and I have reason to believe the Marlin will be smaller than the Nexus 6P. Having a slightly smaller screen I believe will cause it to be dimensionally smaller than the 6P.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

It doesn't look as good as the 6p to me, which is why I ordered a new 64 gig 6p.

Yes I could have waited for the new ones, but I will be honest here, I do like the looks of the 6p over the new ones.

I like the dual front facing speakers too and really don't understand why they would opt for not having them since they certainly have room for them on that big chin.

I do know this, the 6p is selling out quickly everywhere I have looked and I am glad I got a new one ordered at a reasonable price..

I really hate that design, it's so simple for a flagship device.

Agreed, it's why I snagged a brand new 64GB 6P off Swappa a few days ago. I can't go back to phones without front-facing stereo speakers at this point. I just need to find a taker for my 32GB Aluminum, lol.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

Yep. Looks like a smartphone.
That's about all I can say, really. Never understood why folks would have a strong feeling about any particular phone's design...unless we're talking weird colors.
Some things just look unpleasing to others.
I think this 6p is an ugly phone and the new Moto Z is ugly.
It's kind of like cars or guns or other things. Some are ugly to others and some think they look good.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

All of them? And does it make sense for Google to release a new ad about 7.0 and new devices without carefully selecting the images of the devices for the ad?
I think the phone in the Display section was a 5X.

They did seem careful not to show the back of the phone. And I did like the front of the 2015 phones. What with the dual front facing speakers and all.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

Interesting that the renders (or whatever) on this page all seem to have dual front-facing speakers. And they don't all look like existing Nexus phones to me.

That's the Nexus 6P.....

Yes all of them.

They're not selecting new devices, they're selecting an existing device to advertise Andriod 7.0 with. The Nexus 6P is almost a year old now.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

Yeah, that's a Nexus 6P. They're being careful to disguise the hump, but the front and side shots are a dead ringer.

Which still strikes me as either weird or mismanaged/misleading on someone's part. Why go through the trouble to disguise a distinguishing feature like the 6P's unibrow camera bump, which no one who has seen any "leaked renders" expects on the 2016 Nexuses anyway, but make absolutely no attempt to hide the 6P's prominently displayed dual front-facing speakers, a feature that has been conspicuously absent from any leaked renders?

It's also worth noting that the only phone named on that web page is the LG V20, so the ad never establishes a focus on "existing devices."

I don't understand what you're saying. They're not hiding or misleading anything - that's the Nexus 6P.

I said they were hiding the hump because every angle (even the side views) downplays its presence. Whether or not that's intentional is debatable, but it's definitely not prominent. Just an observation.

Re: First live pictures of 2016 Nexus leaks

Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a hard time giving any credence to these photos. Perhaps I'm just distracted by the awful cutout lines around it, but I'll hold off judgement until I see an actual release (or at least a professional looking leak).

Am I the only not enthused that HTC will be making the next nexus? Be honest what has HTC done in the last 2 to 3 years to inspire a new nexus? They have been in a spiral design since the M line and software improvement is not amazing.

Well, who should be making Nexus? Google calls the shots. I've loved the LG Nexus phones, but I can't wait to see what HTC has to offer the current generation Nexus.
