Five days with the LG G3 and I'm about ready to send this back!

I'm pretty sure any new phone is better then what I have now (Rezound) but the overheating issues I read around is really concerning me. Anyone experience these?

For an example this review (and a few others) mention it @ 8m:55s : LG G3 Review! - YouTube

Sorry I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest. I'm really hoping I can get these issues resolved. If anyone has figured out why the notification LED does not work except for the single blue on on startup, I'd really like to hear. The camera speed complaint is relative to all the hype pre-release. All the reviewers were wetting themselves over the LASER-assist focus. There's no laser! Its just normal camera infrared focus assist. And it's clearly NOT a 232 microsecond (or,whatever the # is) shutter delay. Its like 2 seconds. I've missed several shots of kids already. Its normal. Its just disappointing after all the hyperbolae.

The audio output issue is serious. I'm going to have to go back to the ATT store and make them explain that. Not that those kids will have a clue...

I will say battery life has been good. The auto briteness on screen seems very lame and I have had mine on manual, 75%.

No overheating but have not tried a long video yet.

The FM radio is a bummer. For me anyway. Why'd they have to go and kill that.

Hey, what is carrier iq that is being discussed above?

Well, the AT&T owners manual thinks there is a laser in the G3. Here is a screen shot of the AT&T owners manual

I think you brought home a stinkbug or something. So many issues....

I can verify the new camera *is* faster focusing than previous models up to a fifth of a second, and if you look it *obviously* has an active laser when the camera is on. If even your laser is not activating it falls back to slow focus methods. You should really see about canceling with ATT or exchanging the phone...

Does the verizon version have carrier iq on it like the at&t version?

Verizon doesn't have CIQ on anything that I've heard of and they've stated that they don't use the service.

While there is no doubt that you might have a defective unit, you do raise issues that are clearly not a result of such.

Again, maybe your camera is defective or maybe you are seeing something that most others will never see. I can't say, as I don't have the phone to test. But you did come from the HTC One m8, and I haven't found a faster camera then HTC's last two flagships.
My advice is to go to a retail store and test your phone against the display model.

As for bloat, again I can't say. But since you also just got an m8 a few months ago, it's easy for you to know if AT&T has gone overboard with redundant apps on this phone.

I also don't remember all of your complaints about sound/music, but car wifi issues will always happen to someone as the release firmware from brand new models can never include every make and model of car. So some people have to understand that if you are having issues with your car, that even with updates, it may never be fixed (or worse, it could be broken with an update). Until Google "bakes in" car wifi into Android, this will be an issue for some when a new phone comes out.

As for the FM radio being disabled, you already know how I feel on this subject. It is clearly unexceptable! Verizon did just this on the m8 and maybe got a ton of hate mail on it. If they did, maybe that is why they didn't disable the FM tuner on the G3. But unless I'm wrong, this is a first for AT&T and the radio and they need to know just how you feel about it.

There is a lesson to be learned here. Your mouth is your friend.
No matter what, even if you are returning your phone, AT&T is going to want to know what your experience is with the G3. Do what I did (about AT&T disabling freebies on the m8) and give them a piece of your mind. You might not think that it helps, but just look at how Verizon didn't disable the FM tuner on the G3, right after they did so on the m8. Again, your mouth (or fingers when filling out a questionare.) is your best friend.

Personally, I'm never buying a phone or tablet from any US carrier again. So if a phone can not be purchased unlocked like Motorola, Samsung, and HTC, then they lost my business. I have two lines that I personally use, and I really wanted the G3 to replace my S4. But I guess a note 4 is in my future as LG just doesn't care to sell unlocked phones to the US.
Thanks LG.

Interesting. I have had mine a week now. I have had no heating issues, no call issues, and this weekend I was amazed to see my phone go 34hours with normal use before needing a charge. Overall I am extremely pleased with mine.

@warpdrive
The sound issues were not wifi/Bluetooth-related. Simply a matter of plugging in a 3.5mm audio cable between the G3 and the car stereo AUX input. It wont' take the signal if you plug in the audio plug *headphone jack) when the player app is running. You have to plug it in first and then activate the music player app. Very annoying. And I believe sound is still coming thru the speaker. Also there's a very high-frequency multi-tone noise pattern (random) which occurs every fifteen seconds or so, randomly. you can hear this between music tracks when there 's silence...or if you just have the player on without actually playing a song.

I agree with you on registering my complaints with AT&T. I shall do so.
In the meantime, I am going to request a replacement today and go from there.

Also, I agree with you on the unlocked-phone issue. This AT&T stuff is highly-annoying when I've paid full-price for the phone and am not on contract. I have a feeling I'm going to be on the M9 when it's released in 2015. Hopefully with a 5.5" screen!

Was in a Tmobile store and the HTC One M8 was next to the LG G3. I decided to do a speedtest on each one and in the store, the LG3 was getting 14, 15 mbps tops. The HTC was pulling 36 mbps. Legitimate?

I never got over 2.5 mbps on my Iphone 4 using the Sprint service I had. When I got the HTC One, my daughter and my parents all said the calls were coming through so much better on my phone, at the house, and even when i was in the car using Tmobile service on bluetooth.

Happy I switched to Tmobile, but am concerned with battery life on the HTC .

Also, can someone explain the screen differences between these two phones? I still have time left to switch phones to the LG3, if that is what I want to do. It was between these two as I had ruled out the Samsung Galaxy 5 and the Note is too big, but the HTC is at least an improvement for me over the Iphone 4

I started off really liking the screen size and overall feel but the defects are starting to stack up. Here's what I'm running into:

1. AT&T have disabled the FM radio that I normally use a good deal. LG makes it and AT&T breaks it.
2. The camera is nowhere near as fast as they claim. NOWHERE NEAR! Forget all this laser and millisecond nonsense. This thing takes 2-3 full SECONDS to fire off a round. Quality is good but speed seriously sucks.
3. Found out calls will not be placed even with one bar of 4G. THAT is a FAIL.
4. Today while exploring in the country I found that with one to two bars of 4G, Google Maps would not function. What??!! On my old WIFI ONLY Samsung device I could run Google Maps with NO DATA CONNECTION AT ALL! This is a major letdown.
5. There's an annoying issue where audio will not function out of the headphone jack. Music out the speaker, plug in and....music still comes out the speaker. Yes, good audio cord and.3.5 mm plug. Also, if I DO manage to get audio to come out the headphone Jack and into. the stereo... when the music player switches between songs there's an annoying loud "spark/static" noise. So amateurish.
6. The Knock-knock screen turn on is pretty slow.
7. The LED notifications do not work. I've got colors all set up in my email apps and LED notification turned on. Although there is one blue LED that appears when the screen is turned on, the LED never works for any incoming messages.

This whole thing feels either very beta or very (inappropriate language edited by Moderator) -up by our friends at AT&T.

I'm not happy. Hope others are faring a lot better than me.

some of those arnt a issue with me but it does seems the ui and os needs updates.
i wouldnt return mine because well every other phone out there is not for me. i dont like samsung nor do i like htc.
i love alot of things about this phone. the screen, the size the phone, the camera is good for me no issues. the buttons i love reason why i got it after g2.
i love the ui. but it can be a pain..

Why complain. Just return it. Nothing will be perfect

Maybe you feel differently, but I find these type of posts instructive and useful. It allows others to glean information about the phone that is not obvious...

What's is important to you or me, may not be important to someone else, and vice versa...

It's also useful to know what the carrier problems are with a specific model...

To close, there been lots of reports of incompatible apps AT&T G3, while those same apps run fine on the sprint G3.

Does anybody who has the G3 for T-Mobile have the same issues as everyone else? Cause I would like to know considering I am with T-Mobile except I don't have the G3 I have the G2 and was thinking about upgrading within a month or so.

OK, to be fair, I DID figure out the camera. Turning HDR Off helped a great deal.
What is HDR anyway? High Definition R..?

It's high dynamic range.

I have the G3 on T-Mobile. The only issue I'm having is with notifications. The sound for emails (downloaded app) defaults to a different sound. Also the led notification is not always working. I'm sure this will be fixed with the next (first?) OTA update.

I'm very happy with the phone!

An amazing phone. Moved to it from an S3.

So espn and real racing 3 show up for sprint but not at&t?

Without getting fancy....it generates the picture several times at different brightness levels and runs a compare on them. The goal is to make brights brighter and darks darker, or in other words artificially exceeding the limits of the camera sensor. My actual handheld camera goes a step further with Night Portrait which uses a tripod and takes picture with/without flash several times before the compare. Absolutely stunning results.

HDR improves pictures but most of the time you don't need it.

Well just went back to AT&T and exchanged for a new one.
Unfortunately the LED notifications still wont work.

I have 3 G3's in my household and I'm happy to say all 3 run exactly the same perfect with none of the flaws mention here or any other forums.

Well except the notification LED doesn't always work and the stock keyboard app is a little laggy and doesn't responds well when you're fast typer like myself, but I switched it out with SwiftKey.
