Flash support in 4.1+

Never had a tablet before, considering buying this one. My main purpose for getting a tablet is so that I can easily track Fantasy Football statistics on the go. Any of you familiar with Yahoo's fantasy "Stattracker" knows its a great tool, that unfortunately runs on Flash. I don't know if Yahoo has any plans to change the stattracker to a more mobile friendly format or not.

My basic question is: Would the nexus 7 be able to run flash AT ALL (using a different browser)? Or would I be better off buying a slightly older tablet running ICS and just not update to JB? Im looking to spend <250 on a tablet. Any advice is appreciated.

Does this help? Says they have apps for android.

Thanks for the reply, the Apps they developed are nice, but you have to constantly refresh them, and they only show scores for your particular league. My wife has the iPad app, so ive used it a bit. The statracker gives live/real-time play-by-play for all the NFL games and fantasy leagues instantly. I can use it (albeit sluggishly) on my evoshift, but it is too small/slow to be practical.

Flash has never been all that good on Android. I'd suggest the Nexus with Firefox/flash over an older tablet just due to better hardware. Though in the end, you'll probably want to manage that stuff on a computer cause it'll never be good on a mobile device.

Yes. I read the Nexus 7 guidebook that's free on the Play library. It says if you need Flash, just download Browser app from the Play Store.

I've been an iOS user for years & have never needed flash. It's not needed. I don't miss it at all. Every major site I have gone to works just fine.

Well, maybe for you. But many of us need it for professional reasons, i.e. employer/Fortune 500 Companies that require it for their specific content.

I guess this will work until August 15th. Adobe plans to remove the mobile flash app on August 15th and they will not support any device that did not come native with flash

What professional reason would you need it on a mobile device?

I am not sure how to make sense of that. Flash didn't come native on the GNEX with ICS so perhaps the policy and its ramifications aren't completely understood.

What I've done is saved an apk of the flash player. So now I'll be able to install whenever. Then install a 3rd party browser and you're good to go!

The issue is what happens with future updates. A sideloaded app or third party browser isn't going to help if 4.2 (or likely 5.0) itself breaks Flash, and no compatible version is ever made. It didn't work initially in ICS.

If we're lucky it won't happen for a while, but removing it from the Play Store certainly doesn't give confidence. :(

ok, so I just got my nexus 7.
Been playing around with it. Love it so far. But im lost as far as getting this to run flash.
The Play Store doesnt list Adobe Flash 11 when I search for it.
The Firefox browser is not compatible.
I downloaded the .apk file and installed it, but that didnt work. Pardon my ignorance, but does it matter where that file is downloaded to?
Any advice for this noob would be appreciated.

The installed apk won't work if you're on Chrome as it doesn't support Flash.

Firefox is phone only, not tablet. Download Dolphin HD (or Dolphin for Pad?) and make sure in settings that plugins are enabled. That *should* do the trick.

There's no way I'd buy this if Flash is completely nonfunctional (considering I have a Nook Tablet) so please let me know if this works! :-)

Trying to get this to work on my new Nexus7. Cant find this "Browser App" anywhere in the Play store. Perhaps its not available yet since it is so new..

And both dolphin HD and Opera Mobile arent playing nice with flash. Keep getting the little blue lego block.

I guess we'll see what happens.

I had to try a few different versions of the Adobe Flash .apk file, but I found one that works with the Dolphin HD browser. I attached it here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just download it from the play store?

If a app is not compatible with a device it will sometimes not be listed in the store to download.
