Flip 4/ Fold 4 now available to pre-order

Aren't these Fold/Flip devices too thick? How do you carry yours?
In my pocket. I've even carried it in my gym shorts. It's not much different then the note 20 or S22 ultra. They all are big phones, they all have bulk, one bulk is wide and the other bulk is thick.

What you mean how we carry it? Like any other phone....is it heavy...yes.

Are we supposed to put it on shoulder straps and carry it around?
What I mean is I'm having a hard time imagining carrying a thick phone in my pocket. Being a guy I carry my phones in my pocket and it seems it would be uncomfortable. Bulky.

S22 Ultra currently, got on AT&T trade in deal $1000 when I got it. Have $900~ left to pay for it through their monthly installments. But we are moving this week to a new city with bad coverage with ATT at the new house. I may have to switch to Tmobile or Verizon and would need to do their deal for moving over or trading it in. They said the S22 I have will not work on their network. But the 3 other phones (iPhones) will. I didn't want to buy the Fold 4 now and get stuck in a situation switching that might hurt me. I'd have to pay the discounted price of around $800-900 for it with trade in, and pay off the $900 with ATT.....just didn't make financial sense.

Like I said earlier, you have bulk with them all, it depends on what bulk you're better with. I can do either myself. I just don't think listing the bulk is a fair disadvantage compared to the others, it's just different bulk.
Yup. You get used to things and it's difficult to imaging a different scenario. Overall weight is probably a better indicator.

This will be my first Fold. So I went to BB to check out the display model. I liked that it's more compact than my s22 Ultra (folded of course), and just a tad thicker. I'm officially excited to get mine. Time for a change! ..Woooooo!!!!

The extra bulk of the phone isn't what keeps me away. I use cases for all my phones, and I wouldn't want to deal with a bulky case in order to carry the S Pen with the phone. Carrying the S Pen loose in a pocket or bag isn't acceptable to me either.

If there is a Fold in the future that has an internal S Pen silo, then I'll consider one.

You'll be surprised just how enjoyable the flip 4 would be. I've thoroughly enjoyed my flip 3. Jumped on the S22 U, but everytime I use it now it feels too wide and I end up going back to my flip 3 as it has all the things I use my phone for day to day with a slim profile and a nice size display with stellar speakers. I'm still surprised how much I love my flip 3 because I never thought I would care to have a flip phone again.

I ordered the flip 4 with watch 5

What took me some time to get used to my ZF3 is not so much the bulk, but the weight concentrated on narrower package - and I had a case on mine that added to the weight. Hard to describe, but it's the weight that is in a brick, rather than a spread out plate of a conventional phone which would probably make me notice it less.

`It was super noticeable when I went out for my runs/walks. The case I had didn't help. That said, the ZF4 is lighter, so that's nice.

Damn peer pressure!

Got Z-Fold 4, 5 pro watch, and Buds pro 2 earbuds for 750 before taxes....Traded in s22 ultra for 1000.... Decent deal I think
Figured I didn't need the buds since I'll only use the live buds anyways (non inner ear piece). Cancelled and reordered... Total before taxes is now 680 with S22U trade in....I got ZF4, and 5 pro watch.... I think that's still good. Curious how other made out?

I'm in Gavin Grusomes state so I don't even want to share the taxes

The flip is not thick at all even with most cases. What I love about is that when I go out I can fit it in watch pocket of my jeans. It fits perfectly without a case on it of course lol.

If you wear skin tight jeans the fold probably will be noticable, as any phone would be. It really is a question of do you want wide bulk or thick bulk. The weight, I can't say much but it's there. It doesn't bother me as the bonus of opening to a tablet screen over powers that for me, and I like some weight anyway, when they are light they seem to feel cheap to me, that's me though.

As far as exercising with it in gym shorts, yes that would be a issue, but I thought it was with the notes and S22U also. That's one of the reasons I have the Samsung watch 4. I pair my headset to the watch and leave the phone home. I have the LTE version so I can also stream it. The watch does decent tracking exercise.

For years Samsung has had the note or the S Series, and they essentially became the same phone, spen being the difference. Samsung now has the S Series and the Fold. They are indeed different phones now. Comparing the 2 is like apples and oranges. The note started out expensive and huge also, Samsung stayed determined and made a great phone thru the years, now they are doing that with the fold, it will improve year after year, prices will start dropping, let's remember we had some$1,500+ notes, and weight will get better, everything will get better. IMO, Samsung has done nothing but great with the fold series, first fold not so much, but huge improvements with the rest.

$1000 with taxes. Trading a Z flip 3 I bough for $400, so that adds to the cost. Phone, case, buds, watch pro. Now I have to sell my iPhone 13 Pro Max 256gb, Apple Watch 7 45mm, IPad mini 6 and AirPods 3rd gen. I was on the fence about doing this deal but the 512 for 256 price pushed me over. Now to switch everything from iCloud to google drive.

I read, according to Samsung, by 2025 50% of the phones they sell will be foldable. We'll see.

it still feels like too much of a lateral move from the S22 Ultra for me. Seems there are camera and other compromises being made for the sake of a flashy new form factor. I have a $250 promo that can get it down to ~$550 with the trade-in, but still not convinced. convince me otherwise lol

With a 22 ultra I don’t see a reason too switch.

I suppose the S22 ultra to the Fold4 may seen like a lateral move. They both are big phones with the Fold being twice the size when unfolded. But the S22 to the flip 4 are completely different to me. I've had the sPen since N2 and I don't see myself giving that up. My son, on the other hand, doesn't really use the sPen on his N20 but loves having a small phone that slips easily in his pocket. Given the choice between S22ultra to the new flip, he wanted to wait for the new flip. Me, I won't give up my sPen and the specs on the S22U, especially the camera, is too much for me to make the switch. I think it all boils down to how you really want to use your phone.
