I'm being Petty Roosevelt here. But if I had a N20U, I would definitely upgrade to the S22U just for the camera alone. I agree that everything else isn't much of an upgrade.

The N20U had a wonky zoom selection with a huge gap from 1x all the way up to 5x. My current N10+ would take crisper pics anywhere from 2x to 4.9x, since it has a 2x lens. The 3x lens on the S22U is the perfect compromise and also a good effective focal length for portraits. I actually would have preferred a 6x or 7x as the second telephoto periscope lens on the S22U, rather than the 10x.

I was really hoping that Samsung would have upped the sensor quality on the ultrawide, as I occasionally enjoy taking long exposures and astro on a tripod at night. It's still as good as it gets for current state of the art for smartphones, but you always wish for more lol. I have a full frame Canon digital SLR but not always in the mood to carry that brick and huge lenses around lmao. Samsung likes to sell accessories... I wonder what's taking them so long to come out with a good remote bluetooth flash for portraits that works with their native camera app. The built-in flash produces harsh and flat lighting.

The Note 20 Ultra 5g Snapdragon 865+ version was a solid phone and definitely a keeper like Flossy said but the Exynos 990 was a different story, probably the biggest gap there has been between the two chipsets with many reports saying up to a 30% difference in a lot of tests.

So while people may be on the fence upgrading from the Snapdragon version, upgrading from the Exynos version is well worth it in my opinion, only real downside is losing the SD card slot oh and of course the 'Note' name!

I'm not even going to watch his real review, but I agree with him. People have to justify their reasons to upgrade every year, including me. Upgrading the camera is the main thing they can upgrade anymore. Honestly, the back of the phones are starting to look ridiculous with all the cameras IMO.

At least with the fold 2 to the fold 3 had decent reasons to upgrade. Under screen camera, water resistant to mention a couple, and I suppose camera upgrades are coming.

Most upgrades yearly are minimal and flossy is correct here, if camera is important then upgrade, if not it's not much of a upgrade, most yearly upgrades are in their boat.

I'll hold off (my way of saying not in this lifetime) watching as I have done with his last x-number of loud mouth videos. I could care less what he has to say (and to be honest, I could care less what most have to say).

I know, many here worship him, that's cool. However, since when do people have to justify purchasing something they want but might not need? I sure don't justify any purchases I make to anyone and I make purchases all the time for items I do not need; but I WANT, including this phone.

I'm updating from a 4XL that works perfectly has no battery problems, but I want a new phone (I do want a stronger modem). Therefore, I have and will be setting up the S22U in about an hour.

I think it's all subjective on upgrades also. Do what you want IMO.

Everybody has an opinion. I think he spent way too much time slamming the colors. Especially the "Red" one, or whatever you choose to call it. He's entertaining. His review video could have been slimmed down by at least 15 minutes. Too much ranting.

There hasn't been earth shattering upgrades year to year in smartphones for years now, so it really is starting to sound like a broken record to hear these reviewers just rehash the same thing over and over. I think a lot of people may say that they have to really see if it is worth upgrading but at the end of the day, enthusiasts will just about always upgrade every year. When the Note was released in August, you saw here people upgrading every 6 months between the Note and S series. I really don't think upgraded features are really a major driving point for people to upgrade their phone anymore unless it's the one thing that you really wanted to be upgraded - like the return of the SD card slot, lol. It's the desire for something they feel is 'new' even if it's not evident in the features. I think a point to consider also is that the longer you wait, the lower the trade-in value is.

But year to year upgrades in phones - it's been pretty minor for the last few Notes.

I think he's somewhat overrated as a reviewer, but I will say when I first started using Notes his reviews taught me a lot because he would go in depth with Spen features I didn't know about. I do think some of his reviews are way too long though.

His Real Reviews are probably really great for people not into smartphones like most here that are shopping for a new phone and want a detailed review.

As for color, he’s right, it’s not red… it’s an orange red, flamingo red, brick red, salmon red… most people here including myself have been having fun trying to find a name to describe the color because it’s not a pure red. Ironic Samsung usually comes up with a unique name for their colors down to a Mystic White to describe White but on their site they just call this one… Red

As far as recommending if you have a N20U that not really much of an upgrade. To the average consumer, I agree.

If you’re not a phone person that’s gonna upgrade to the next year phone regardless, you’re not gonna care for his opinion anyways lol. It’s the exact same call if you had an iPhone 12 Pro… even an 11 Pro and someone asking is it worth upgrading to a 13 Pro.

I personally would upgrade because I like the better cameras… that’s the only reason for me. The bigger battery is a little plus and other updates but it’s mainly the camera. But it depends…

Would I upgrade by getting $800 for my N20U and paying $500 out of pocket? Personally no. What if there is no $800 trade in and more like Swappa $600 and out of pocket $700… for me heck no. If a friend or family member with a N20U wanted to would you say $500 to $700 is worth it??

Again if your a phone nut and most here avg swapping every year or two it won’t matter. Or if you can get an upgrade and after selling/trading in your phone it only cost you a couple of hundred out of pocket… eh, ok if you like the upgrades.

For me, I can get an 256gb S22U for $800 with connections. Swappa my N20U for $600 and it’s only $200 out of pocket for me. For a 1.5 year phone and I love updated cameras… I’d do it. For $200 for me it’s worth it. Was gonna do it but now not in rush. For me I have time… in about 9 months we find out if there will be an S23 Note (Ultra… it’s really a Note lol). If there is one then I’ll use my connections then. S23 should have the 200mp sensor, etc. If they take away the spen in S23, then I pick an S22U while there is supply.

But, imo, Floss is pretty much right on his call if you have an N20U.

I watched it yesterday. ONE HOUR FORTY TWO MINUTES !!! That's the length of a movie. I actually found it to be one of his best so far imo. Flossy Carter is a man-on-the-street tech reviewer. He's not going to tell his audience stuff about colour accuracy of the display or whether the macro shots were better with another model. He's entertaining and doesn't equivocate with his opinions. Reviewers come in different "flavours".
