For those concerned about Moto 360 battery life

Off charger at 8 AM yesterday and it was still at 53% when I put it back on at 11 PM last night. Light usage, but still kind of impressive considering the early reviews calling for 3 charges a day. I could probably get a full day with screen always on too. May try that soon.

I would say that 50% of my watch looking is done with my wrist on the desk looking at my watch so no movement to activate the display.

I'm assuming I have to change my habit/ view point. Is it a big deal to "flick" my wrist to see the time I guess not but I have to change. Its a watch shouldn't it show the time first and foremost??

I believe you can have it on your desk, no need to flick wrist/watch, just tap screen, should show time too.

I had 15 hours yesterday (was at 17% when I threw it on the charger). That was my first, full day with it too (got it Wed and played, then back to work yesterday). Currently sitting at 50%, and been off the charger since 6:00 AM ET.

Not sure if it was some of the new watch faces I was trying but I hemoraged power below 50%. I uninsulated all of the 2rd party watch faces, but some of them still show up on the 360. Going to charge it back up and try again. Might have to reset it to get things back to normal.

The 4.4W1 software update has dramatically improved my situation. It's been 9.5 hours off the charger and I'm down to 46% remaining. I fully expect to get to at least 16 hours. I'll post again with the final results on this change when it gets to the 2% range.

Aaaand it was definitely one or more of the watch faces. Uninstalled them, recharged, and back to normal.

On my 2nd day with the Moto 360 and battery life is looking good. I'm at 23% left after 15 1/2 hours. I'll probably be up for another 2 hours so it should definitely last until then.

Yesterday was a bit worse. I put it on the charger after 14 hours with 9% left. But I definitely used it a lot more given it was my first day with a new toy. :)

But even today I was using it a decent amount, so I think the battery life will work fine for me. Incidentally, I've left Ambient mode off because I have no need to have the display stay on when I'm not using the watch.

Re: For those concerned about battery life

From what you've shared and I've read around the net...seems like the only way to get this great battery life is screen off instead of screen on. My G watch works great either way, but to get through a day with the 360 I would likely have to do screen off. Would you agree?

Not always. Depends on how long your days are and how heavy of a user you are. Some people will be able to make it through a full day with ambient mode / screen on, others won't. I did a whole day with ambient mode on today, but I don't get a ton of notifications and I don't do a ton of voice searches or fidgeting with it.

Re: For those concerned about battery life

I took mine off the charger yesterday morning at 6:30 am and didn't dock it until 10:30; it was at 37%. After 16 hours of what I would consider normal use, I can say that I am very pleased with the battery life of the Moto 360. I was playing with settings, deleting emails, swiping away notifications, and checked my heartbeat and step counts a few times throughout the day.

Major fail for Moto 360 battery vs LG G watch as discussed on TalkAndroid: A closer look at the battery life on the Moto 360 | TalkAndroid.com

Thanks for sharing. This was a great article. I'm a happy g watch user who really wants the moto 360, but I just can't justify making the battery concessions, and this article reinforced that for me. Such a shame. I would have gladly spent an extra $100 on the Moto if it gave me the same performance (screen always on and real all day battery) as my G Watch.

I think he's saying that he likes to just glance at his watch without having to flick his wrist or touch it. I do this regularly with my G Watch too to see the time or see if I have any notifications hiding out at the bottom of the screen.

That's awesome what car is that?

I got it for my L2 G2, but also using it for my Moto 360 on Road trip or on my way home from work if needed. :D

My first full day was yesterday. I took it off the charger at 5:30am and used it normally all day (maybe more since it's new) and it died at 10PM (16.5 hours) so I'm happy.

Re: For those concerned about battery life

ambient mode on = can't last all day
ambient mode off = can last all day

I don't know why they don't say this stuff in the reviews

1st day, off charger at 7:30 AM it is now 7:00 PM and I'm at 60%. Ambient mode off. My phone does seem to be using more battery though, Sony Xperia Z2.

Re: For those concerned about battery life

I should have clarified- I prefer having the screen always on and I'm guessing that those happy with results haven't used other Android Wear watches where battery life estimates are generally based upon the default, screen always on, settings.

That ****** in the video can take his opinion and shove it for suggesting that we "friggin" don't need it always on.

If it doesn't suit your needs, then don't get it. I agree with the original poster and I use it as he described without any issues. I get great battery life so it suits ME fine. If not, I would have moved on towards another device.

I've read several posts regarding both poor battery and great battery on the Moto 360.

The best comment I've read is that this watch is supposed to be used like your smartphone. I get tons of emails and text messages all day long, including phone calls; perhaps more than your average smartphone user.

3/4 of the way through my day I have to charge my M8 - around 3p or 4p. I charge my phone on the way to work in my car too. I wouldn't leave my smartphone screen on all day, or run video or play music continuously and unneccessarily; anyone would experience battery problems.

The same logic applies to this smart watch. For those of you who want the hour displayed all day long, use a regular watch but you won't get your notifications or other benefits of wearing a smart watch. When you flick your wrist , accurate time is displayed and any notifications your phone may have received - what more do you want? The added benefit is that you don't have to reach to grab your device all the time to "check what's new".

The watch is far from perfect but arguably the best between the LG and Samsung android wear variants. And in a few months, something newer will be out that will probably function a lot more efficiently and may be better looking.

While we don't have that product yet, enjoy this one for what it is.

My Moto 360 functions well. Charges really fast. Lasts an entire work day. Does what it needs to do for me.

On a complete tangent, I think Moto 360 looks better than the Apple watch images I've seen. Android wear will get better by the time Apple releases its product some time next year too.

My post isn't biased either. I have this watch, the Gear 2, my M8 and an iPhone 5S.

I can't wait to see what comments are posted after this...
