Good Morning Folks,

I am searching for an alternative to FoxFi. I hate the required lock screen it now needs with its security certificate. It hinders the Touchless Control feature that is a mainstay of the Moto X. I am rooted and have unlimited data. I am coming from a Galaxy Nexus and did not have this added step nor was there TC that it interfered with.

This is an unfortunate change FoxFi made. I have been a very happy paying customer of theirs for almost two years. I am guessing this added step was needed to help them reduce people pirating their app or they didn't think of the ramifications to this devices Touchless Control feature. I know that i can uninstall the certificate and disable the lock screen when not using FoxFi but this is a real pain going back and forth 4-6 times a day, especially when I leave someplace and am driving wishing to use TC. If they develop a work around, I will gladly use FoxFi 100% but for now I am seeking another product.

Thank you all in advance for your thought and ideas.

[MOD][VZW][AT&T][SPR] Native tether - xda-developers
this work perfectly.

you not want to root?Just curious as to your reasons not to

1) Lack of (any) experience
2) Fear of bricking my device
3) Fear of loading buggy ROMs that won't deliver a solid and smooth experience
4) See all of the above

You don't have to install a buggy ROM to root, just stay stock rooted.

It does indeed! Thanks for the tip. Didn't want to root but no problems so far.

BTW... Here is the email from Fox Fi customer service:

"Hi

You need the lock screen because in the latest firmware update of your
phone, Verizon has blocked WiFi mode and there is no other way around it
except for installing a certificate (which requires the screen lock) to
bypass the tether plan check (again, enforced in the latest firmware
update).

If you find a way to roll your phone back to the previous firmware then
you won't have this issue.
