Hi, can someone lay out the process to set up a fring/skype video chat connection to a computer with cam? I have Fring. I set up a skype account. My nephew has skype on his computer. What's next? Thanks.

I haven't been able to get Fring or Qik to work but I just tried iMovicha and it worked fine. I couldn't figure out how to get the front facing camera working, but video was being sent both ways using the back camera.

with fring it's really simple. add skype. click on your contacts name. 3 icons come up, one with a message button, one with a phone button, one with a video camera. press the video camera, and wait for the other person to accept. and there ya go! you're video chatting. took me a second to figure it out myself.

It is really simple, i was not able to get audio though. I vid chat with my mom and my sis yesterday and all i got was an annoying high pitch sound, you know like when you have a microphone too close to a speaker.....

1) In Fring, when you're on the main screen (the screen displaying the list of contacts), tap the MENU button and select ADD-ONS.
2) Select SKYPE.
3) Input your Skype username and password.
4) On the main screen, select your nephew's username.
5) Select the VIDEO CAMERA icon (this will call your nephew)
6) Nephew answers the call and the camera automatically turns on.

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm actually new to Skype, have only seen it used... do you have to pay in order to do this? Because I heard you have to buy credits or something.

Also... is Skype the only way you can video chat from Evo to PC via Fring? I tried AIM but it wouldn't support video chatting. I don't have an account with any of the other services.

Skype to Skype calls are free. You only get charged when using Skype to call landlines or cellphones. So using Fring on your Evo to call a person on Skype is free.

Sorry, I don't use any other type of IM client that does video calls, so I wouldn't know the answer to your second question.

I tried Fring/Skype on my EVO with Skype on a PC... a lil bit pixelated but worked great. Thanks for the quick rundown, SL! FYI- gchat video chat didnt work on fring.

No, that answers my question perfectly... Thanks. I must've been attempting to call my number from my computer because it kept saying not enough credits or something. I'll try that now.
