From BB to Incredible (Have issues, need help, advice)

yeppers!! father has a storm and I had the 8330 and I use the mini to micro adapters for the 8330 chargers and his storm charger works no problem!

Finally ordered my Incredible today (had to wait for company approval)!!

My Storm1 has been getting worse and worse lately (booting with 5mb, had to do at least 1-2 battery pulls/day, been freezing up on calls, haven't been able to download any apps for months because of lack of memory, tons of dust under the screen, etc) and I've been dying to get approval to finally upgrade to get this phone.

Est delivery is 6/28, but my rep thinks I'll get it a week before that. I hope!

Anyways, I wanted to know if my usb plugs that I've used for my BB Storm will also work with my Incredible to plug into my computer (to charge it and to access data). My Vzn corp rep says that my BB car charger will work fine with the Incredible. Can anyone confirm that too?

Looking very forward to my Android phone and being a part of Android Central (Crackberry.com was also a great resource/help in the past)

Just got my DInc about two weeks ago and came from a Storm1. I've only ever known the Blackberry world and wow, this is such a treat. You can definitely use the same micro chargers from the Storm (I do), and I even slapped my sd card from the Storm into my DInc and it automatically recognized and filed my pics, vids, and ringtones. You will love your phone, trust me! ;=)

That sounds great. I did plan to take the 8gb card out of my Storm too.

Coming from a Storm myself and waiting for delivery of my Incredible. Hurry up!

Doing the same exact thing. Waiting for the Incredible in the mail... I can't wait, the 23rd seems so far away! Especially when 2 of my good friends have the Incredible already.

Download limit on Incredible?

I too am only familiar with the BlackBerry world and am waiting for delivery of my Incredible. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the Incredible has a limit on the size of a single file you can download, like BBs do?

the trick is to convince you BB friends to install the google talk app on their phone

If only it were so easy. :)

Google talk is garbage compared to BBM. Ten of my friends and I have been searching high and low for something to fill the BBM void because we've been steady dropping our BB's for Droids. (I'm up next, hopefully very soon)

I will only miss BBM. The group chat, the ease of sharing pictures and events, the frosty beer emoticon. :( I will miss thee BBM, but I will not miss thee Storm 1, you peice of trash, or all the dust under your screen.

:)

Anyway, if anyone stumbles across something actually on par with BBM, I'd love to see it. My friends and I are dying to find a cross-platform, cross-carrier replacement.

I'm also moving from the storm 1 and i should hopefully be getting my incredible by friday!!! I got a quick question regarding email. I still haven't really understood how the email works on the inc but I figure ill figure it out better once I get it. Here's my question. On the storm when you delete an email you have the option to "delete on mailbox and handheld or just handheld. Does the incredible have the same sort of option? I hate having a cluttered phone and often times there is an email I need to save, so I only delete it on the handheld, however want to keep it in my inbox. Do i have this same option on the incredible!? Can't wait to get started with this thing!

Like most BB Storm owners I am making the switch to the Inc. For those of you lucky enough to have received your Inc already (I am STILL WAITING) have you found any Apps that would be helpful for a former Crackberry addict. Any thoughts on messaging apps (K9 or MailDroid), notification apps, something like "Leave it on", "Quick Launch", themes, anything else interesting out there?? Please give me some feedback.

Have you guys tried "Cnectd"? I would realy like to know how it works. It sounds like a great alternative to BBM and sounds like it is cross-platform. Heres a link

cnectd - Android app on AppBrain

I too am waiting for my Incredible to com. Got approval from my work 2 weeks ago and can't wait to switch from my Storm 1!!

Good luck

There is no option that I know of to keep mail on the server but delete from the device.

What I did with my work email is have it got through gmail and my replies to work emails are with my work address.....

Or when you want it off your phone but left on the server you can either change the label for the message to non-inbox, or archive the message.

Not being able to 'delete prior' is one HUGE peeve of mine. Some days I'll have 50+ server error messages that were taken care of when they happened. When that happens I used to just delete prior after I scanned through the list...now they all sit there unread because there ALSO isn't a MARK PRIOR READ option!!

I would test this out first, but I think with respects to other pop mail services, it will leave messages on the server. At least with my comcast mail it seems to do it. Gmail goes right to the trash though, so I just label and archive or leave them in the gmail inbox because its seperate from my other mail. I don't get much yahoo or hotmail action though, so I've yet to see how it works there.

I like an app called "Profiles". It seems to do as good a job as possible on Android at mimicking the Profile feature on Blackberry.

It can't act as a central repository for all settings like on BB, but it does many AND it offers the ability to schedule profile changes.

Hey newbee here -i have incredible, but can't seem to get ringer silent and sms/mms to vibrate only. When I put phone on "vibrate" messages still sound. Is there an app that allows to set each seperately? I tried sound manager (couldn't get it to work).

I was going to suggest AudioManager Pro, but I don't see SMS/MMS in the settings as a separate option. It does let you change the volume of various features. It even lets you leave Alerts & the Ringer on vibrate mode.

I especially like the shortcuts on the home screen that lets me activate a sound profile with 1 tap.

Thanks - I'll take a look at it. I did try audio manager, but not the pro and it wouldn't let me separate the two )phone/vs sms/txt and email. I must not be doing something wrong or have a setting checked that interferes with the apps. I am in situations where I need the phone to be silent, but need sms/mms and email to vibrate only quickly with one tap. Thanks for the suggestion.

Does this sound right:
I think the DINC doesnt push popserver mail like the blackberry did . I think it does with Gmail but the popserver type mail from outlook express for example has to be pulled if I read it right ,lol. Phone hasn't got here yet so I dont know forsure on that .If thats true then in order to get mail from the PoP Server mail service I would have to push a "get mail" or something then I guess unless I am using my gmail account on the DINC. :)
