From BB to Incredible (Have issues, need help, advice)

Me too coming from an 8330. was waiting for the specs of the CMDA BB Bold and was underwelmed. I am ordering the HTC in the morning with a 50.00 continuity rebate.

Had 6 8330s two software bugs. one didn't have a functioning keyboard.
Other was missing mem card slot lock/ holder

there was talk before of RIM licensing out to other platforms, but i think once they realized that was what was keeping them alive in the consumer sector, they stopped it.

so i wouldn't hold your breath for BBM on anything other than a blackberry.

BBM will never be available on anything but a BB, there is talk of a "desktop client" being discussed in the beta zone, but not seriously. RIM wouldnt do that either.

correct, it's a limitation on the android platform. my guess it that it stems from there being no built in file management system at all.

Wow...this kinda kills my buzz on getting my Incredible...ok not really...but it does bum me out!!!

Thx for the heads up!!

I don't have Incredible yet, but I would suggest you download Google Sync on your BlackBerry now and sync your contacts to Google with that. Incredible will pull from your Google Contacts when you set it up, so that's the easiest way to transfer the contacts.

I came from a Storm.

1. Love it. Couple things: Yahoo Mail no longer has the option to delete "on Handheld only" (unless) I'm missing something. GMail doesn't either but that may be what the Archive button is for. (I'm still learning)
2. Still learning the profiles and the easiest way of changing them. Typing is a breeze. The corrective suggestions work great.
3. I had Yahoo for my contacts. I created a Gmail account and they transferred over there with absolute ease. Then, when you start up your Incredible, it walks you through very easily how to sync your contacts from GMail.
4. Alarm clock is good. No complaints. (used it for the first time last night). It's much much easier to scroll to find the correct time. Alarm volume is adjustable. Snooze is adjustable. What else is there?

Let me know if you have any other questions.

1. LOVE IT! It is so fast compared to BB Strom. The browser makes up for the lack of a consolidated inbox, which is my only complaint.
2. No difficulty whatsoever.
3. The setup of this device is most impressive. I happen to use GoogleApps for my work email, so my contacts were already stored in the cloud. However, Verizon offers Backup Assitant, which you may want to use. So, after you backup to Verizon, you fire up the Incredible and the first several steps (after activation) ask you for user/pass combinations for the Verizon backup, facebook, Gmail, twitter, etc. By the time you finish, the phone has retrieved everything and you've got your contacts, calendar, everything ready to go. I really like that it linked my contacts with their facebook profile pics. Imagine my surprise when about five minutes in I get a call from one of my facebook friends. Their pic showed up on the phone. I was impressed.
4. I haven't used the alarm clock, but how bad could it be? It's an alarm clock.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Thanks so much for the tip. I just completed it on my Storm and it was very quick and easy. That will help immensely when I get my Incredible.

Compared to a Storm this phone is fantastic but the only thing I have to get used to is not being able to remove/hide certain things like Verizon's Visual Voice Mail(maybe I just haven't figured it out) and how to work the email's. I think I setup to many emails just to look at my gmail account :-)

It is super fast compared to a Storm, ie. everything is faster, not even close.

YESSSSSS!!!!! I dont think I can express how happy to hear this I am. 5 mins snooze sucks.

also came from storm

the mail app will take getting used to, but it looks and feels solid (both exchange in the regular email app and the gmail app for my personal mail)

sound profiles have completely eluded me though... it was so easy and so robust on the BB, and I just can't seem to figure it all out on the inc

Take this with a grain of salt. I've had for a full day now. Came from Storm2, and previously an iPhone. Emails (non gmail) are much slower than the BB. Th phone is not as clear as BB (there is no noise cancellation). Even though camera is 8Mp,pictures are not as clear, and there is no image stabilization.
In the 24 hours I've had it, it is a better replacement for an iPhone than a BB. Still, the browser is amazing, and it is lightning quick!!!! You tube is the best of the three The driving navigation set up is great!!!
Can't wait to get to know it better!!

Email with k-9 from the market (assuming you have IMAP access) is just as fast as it ever was on the berry without being tied to the RIM NOC for everything. It takes some getting used to for sure but it's plenty good enough and easy enough to use daily.

Update:
The one available from http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/downloads/list 2703 even has an Integrated inbox like the berries. Just and FYI.

I just ordered the Incredible. I am currently a BB 8330 user. My primary email account is Google, so this will work well. In preparation, I exported all my Outlook contacts into a CSV file and imported/merged them to my gmail account. That said, I'll now have all my blackberry contacts on my Incredible.

While this will be a new interface, from what I've read I believe I'll be happy with the Android OS. Looking forward to receiving the device.

If you guys are trying to get an easy way to sync from the BB. Just download google sync to the berry. Have it sync the contacts to your gmail and when you get your droid and enter your gmail info they'll magically come showing up on that device. Quick simple.
