From OnLeaks, Get Excited

I think it would be a good idea for Google to encourage Android OEMs to step their build quality up with an elegant Nexus device. That's one less thing iOS will have to boast about. Plus I'm buying this for personal use, so I'd like something that feels nice.

I gotta disagree. Not saying you're wrong or criticizing, I just have a different opinion. The things I like best about the Nexus has always been it's simplicity and clean look. I'm the type that would get the Pure in all black, maybe ebony wood, but that's just me. A more premium build would mean a more expensive device, and I just think that would detract from it. Both inside and out, Nexus has always taken a "less is more" approach, and the minimalist in me really appreciates that.

Did you guys see the rumored release date of September 29? I'm hoping it's earlier. The rumor is also that the Huawei Nexus will arrive a little later than the LG.

I've always had the feeling the the Hauwei version was gonna come out a little later, ever since Girl Interrupted suggested a few months ago that Google might wait till the end of the year, which might leave a small glimmer of hope we might see the 820 (something I now don't believe).

I would've liked to have seen them both come out together so I can grab both and still be able to return whichever one I like the least. I'd love to see the 29th be true, hopefully (somebody mentioned this, I can't remember who) it'll be within the 14 day return policy of the Pure I can test em both out ... although I have a feeling I'd keep both.

I'm on a Nexus 4 and S4 though, so I've been patient and don't mind waiting a little longer. Part of me actually enjoys the anticipation!

All this said though and all these rumors, I think it's stock fans are lucky to basically have 3 phones to choose from this year. Hopefully the trend will continue.

Google it. Wow. Brilliant. If only you had thought of that... What a jerk

Evan is and has always been a social deviant. His credibility will go out the window if he misses this, the HTC from last year was an epic disappointment. last year I blamed HTC, this year I'll blame him, fair or unfair!

I'm interested in seeing what the Moto X has to offer, but it doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, so it's not gonna be my next phone. Otherwise it seems pretty great. I'm not big on the processor either. I figure if the 800 in my Nexus 5 can whiz through Marshmallow, I'll be satisfied with just about anything. I hope the Huawei phone isn't too far behind, though. I'm sure they'll want to tap into the US market as soon as possible so LG won't run off with their customers.

yeah I'm with you on processor speed. display/processor/RAM/battery should be harmonious, and IMO that's much more important than anything else.

I was surprised Moto decided to leave out the fingerprint sensor, even though (former CEO) Rick Osterloh said back in May the next Moto X wouldn't have one.

I don't think Hauwei has a say in when Google releases it in the US, though I could be wrong. It'll be so interesting to see how that experiment goes. From its acceptance in the US, to possibly Google finally being able to at least partially expand in China, I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out

Even the Nexus brand in general, and how Fi plays into things will be interesting. I was extremely excited to see the Moto X this year, but I don't remember being more anxious for a phone to launch than the Hauwei Nexus. I'll most likely grab the Pure and one of the two Nexus phones (M10 has an outside chance if legit rumors come early and Hauwei comes late) though that can all change pretty quick so we'll see.

I expect Marshmallow to be everything LP should've been, and although subtle, I think the improvements are very significant. I've heard great things about Doze and RAM Manager and Permissions sound like great additions. I'm also looking forward to the rotating home screen, which is long overdue.

Yeah, two Nexus phones, and an OS that at least seems to have finally addressed a lot of overdue functions, definitely excited.

Hell yeah. I'm so f'n excited about the new Nexus phones. I NEED real info soooooon

I had M installed on my Nexus 6 and can confirm the standby times were much improved with doze. Not quite iPhone-like standby times yet but getting closer. I'd say I dropped 2-3% overnight.

I typically drop 5% overnight with my G3 on lollipop. 2-3% isn't really all that impressive

seriously. I just don't get it. do you remember back in the day with our flip phones how nice it was to head out with 50% and the next day it still had 15% left?

what these OEMs just don't realize, is that it's more than the size of a battery. people might not even consciously realize it, but it's that feeling of security, knowing that we don't have to worry about our phone dying during the day.

I'm kinda adventurous, often not knowing where my day is going and i crave that freedom to be able to do what I want, when I want, without being tied down to some battery pack or quick charger.

people buy feelings, not products ... and what would make you feel better? a phone that's unnoticeably thinner than your last one? or knowing that if you're in an emergency, you can feel secure and comfortable knowing you're phone isn't gonna die on you?

marketing 101, and shocking it still hasn't been addressed.

It's not marketed because the average customer neither knows, nor cares, what the mAh rating of their batter is. Apple probably does better marketing than anyone, and it obviously works. They focus on the aesthetics of their devices because that's what customers want, and its damn effective.

LG G2 5.2in display vs Nexus 5 4.95in display the ram, hardware camera, chip and display technology were all the same between the two. The size battery and G2 hardware buttons on the back, the OS and camera software features were difference between the two. With that said Nexus 5 of 2015 can be very much be a LG G4 which not surprising or different what Google had done with most of there Nexus line so far.

Google does this to be able release Nexus phone every year as well keep cost down. For example most Nexus phones are based on technology earlier in the year but technology improves all through out year and what the technology was earlier in year is lot cheaper to produce
at the end of year. This why most Nexus devices have such appealing price point even the Nexus 6 of laster is simply because what I have stated.

If Google were to use technology that coming out later in year or even next year then their devices would be very expensive. Google is mostly about Nexus devices that are good bang for your buck off contract device with tried improve and cost effective hardware.

All very good points. I had thought the differences between the G2 and Nexus 5 were more significant, but it was so long ago now my memory was clearly faulty.

Also, the most recent leaked spec's (which I saw on another thread here) would definitely seem to support your thinking, and that's totally fine with me: I've had a G2 since it was released, and my next choice after the new Nexus would probably be the G4.

I get your point about the camera, and it's a good one.... none the less, this is all just speculation since we really don't know and this is still just rumors and mostly just guess work on everybody's part right now... even those Leaked sites and tweets.

Ah, true, but isn't that was this entire thread is about? ;)

Except it is over the spot where the battery would be. Also, I've never seen a removable back with a camera hump on the back cover like that.

Thank you for this additional information. You make a very good point. And, I have to admit that since the fingerprint sensor will be virtually useless to me (as discussed above), it's not a big focus for me.

Also, removable back isn't a HUGE deal for me, but would be a bonus. For most of the time I've had my G2, I was beginning to become a believer in sealed devices ... and then Verizon pushed out their version of Lillipop and completely destroyed my battery life. But, if the new Nexus has a large enough battery and options for enough internal memory ... and wireless charging, as I just read in the most recent specs leak ... I'll be a believer. Fingers crossed.

Ah... so you actually understand my point... that's good. Some people on these threads believe every leak to be the truth and nothing but the truth.

Poor souls. That way lies madness. ;)

I always enjoy following the leaks because it's fun, and to see if a device is even rumored to be heading down a path that's of interest to me. Then, of course, it's always interesting to compare the leaks and rumors with the reality once the device actually arrives.

The rumors and leaks about this particular device definitely have it in my zone of interest.

I certainly can't argue with you there!

in addition, people are attracted to apple for its ecosystem in addition to aesthetics. also, apple does a great job with optimization and most importantly, working the way it should right out of the box.

take the S6 for example, an equally aesthetically pleasing device IMO ... you can't even compare the out of the box experience, in that the iPhone works great as is, yet you have to disable have the features on the S6 just to get decent battery life.

also, back to my point about how consumers buy feelings, not products, the iPhone is a status symbol, and makes people feel good. at least in the US, so many females buy iPhones as a fashion statement and just to fit in. Uggs and iPhones, literally every girl I know has em!

Just came across this little tid bit and thought I'd share. Mostly about Marshmallow, and the advantages of the Doze feature, but does reiterate some of the spec's that have been reported/leaked elsewhere, and does cite a 3180 mAh battery, which would make me very happy.

Marshmallow & Doze & Battery, oh my

FWIW.

the author and I have a different opinion on what constitutes a "towering" battery, but I'll sign on the dotted line right now for 3180 mAh, especially IF Android M is as good as advertised (they talk about better battery life every year, so not getting too excited, but Doze seems legit so cautiously optimistic).

I can't help it, but I really am extremely excited for this phone. I've been beyond patient with my Nexus 4, holding out for something I really like, and I think we're gonna have a winner here. IMO it'll be the best Nexus so far .... hopefully Google will at least improve distribution/inventory.

I agree on all counts. I've currently got an LG G2 that I loved until the Lollipop upgrade tanked it. I've wanted a Nexus phone since the Samsung Nexus 2, but the timing has never worked for me for one reason or another. This time, though, it looks like the stars might just align. If the spec's we're seeing so far are accurate, and it has wireless charging and at an option for at least 64GB internal memory (or an expansion slot), I'll be a happy camper.

wireless charging won't be a deal breaker but I've never used it and would certainly prefer the option ... I hear you with the whole timing thing. I liked the Nexus 5 but had an S4 and Nexus 4 so didn't need to upgrade. Figured I'd grab the Nexus 6 but trying to order the one I wanted (white, 64 GB) took awhile and I just lost interest. after seeing the @evleaks HTC M9 render thought for sure that'd be my next, but we all know how that turned out. S6 had it's battery issues (battery is a big deal to me) and the G4's software (UX is also a big deal) just sucks IMO, so here we are.

Now we have 3 phones to choose from, both Nexus phones and Moto Pure , that'll satisfy my preference for stock. Like you said, the stars have aligned and assuming the rumors are somewhat accurate, it's a safe bet I'll grab the LG version. At this point, either availability issues or disappointing battery life would be the only things preventing me from getting one.

I should have mentioned that wireless charging isn't a deal breaker for me but, having had it on my G2 for the past 2 years has really made me a fan. And I'm also looking forward to pure Android without all the crap and bloat (hopefully).
