Froyo clock app timer fail...

So yesterday, I decide to put a DiGiorno pizza in the oven after work. I was hungry. Long day... Pizza box says 25 minutes so I'm thinking, "this is the perfect time to test out the timer that's integrated in the froyo clock app..." I start the timer, then start doing other stuff on the phone. Checked emails, fired off a couple of text messages, that sort of thing. Mind you, I never hit the back button from the timer. I hit the home button. Anyways, I go back to the timer and the time is reset to one minute and it's no longer counting down. Is there something I missed? That sucks! Pizza didn't get burned, so it was all good. Gonna eat leftovers for lunch today...

I went to the Market and downloaded the Stopwatch & Timer app. Sweet choice. It's free, no ads, and it just works. Plus, it shows a little icon in the notification bar up top AND, shows the timer count down in the notification drop down. It's kind of redundant considering that these features should already be implemented in the stock froyo clock app, but for mission critical things, like a pizza in the oven, I need reliability. Not something that will reset on a whim just because I start doing something else on the phone.

Anyone else use the stock froyo timer?

When and if I get Froyo on this Froyo forsakened phone....I'll let you know how it does.

:p haha...

I'd like to man....I really would but I'm soooo afraid of screwing the pooch on it.

I too was initially kind of scared of flashing, and trying an unofficial release. Let alone all those custom ROMs out there. But I just bit the bullet and said, "I'm gonna DO THIS." And look at me now... A little over a month and I'm doing stuff with the phone I never thought I'd be doing so quickly. It's great fun! But I guess I'm more of a risk taker with my stuff too. Everyone is different in that regard.

I just tested the Timer works fine, I tested it keeping the timer opened
passed

Then I tested it setting for 1 min. then hititng the Home capacitive button and opened another app, timer showed up when the set time expired.

which brings me to another question How does one change the tone for the timer?

I want to add one of the R2D2 sounds in place of the Froyo timer sound.

Hmm... maybe try a longer time and then do some other stuff on your phone. Set it for like 25 minutes maybe? It's not so much of a big deal since I got that Stopwatch & Timer app from the market. But I do like hearing other experiences.

Wow, seriously? I'm going to have to test it again! I have not a clue as to why it never went off! Going to try it again sometime today when I get a chance. Thanks for testing it out on your own though!
