Hopefully this weekend i will be upgrading to a vanilla 2.2 rom. For now i rock the FlyX. All a new update is more bloatware they can add to your X.

If your impatient about updates Verizon isn't the service for you. Verizon will apply pressure to get an unfinished OS/Hardware out the door for a given release date (why they screwed Microsoft over on the Kin pricing) but they probably have the tightest post release update testing.

They would rather someone use a broken release version, then update them to a more stable OS, based on even 1 or 2 bugs.

This is so true. Crackberry dot com was always on fire with people pleading (to the internet I suppose) that for the love of god will big red please release our update! But eh, I'm with willie deuel, I'm not unhappy with my 2.1 x. Sure, flash will be nice, but I know from experience that once it comes out, I will forget instantly about how long it took. But that's me, and I'm coming from a curve, so the bar was petty low for me to start with. It's not a big enough deal for me to root.

I came from a Curve too. 2.1 is SO far ahead of my old 'berry it's ridiculous.

I'm not sure if any OS or ROM would satisfy some for long. Its just the nature of the beast to want that next update or newer/faster/slicker device.I know of a few that are still happy with 1.5.
I'd like to go with a rooted, custom ROM, however I also want that cracked bootloader. If they lockdown root with the 2.2 OTA, I may not even accept it.

I am not going to even mess around with leaked OS's when my X arrives tomorrow. I've already done the "leak after leak after leak" on my s2. I would hope 2.1 would be a heck of a lot more stable than any of my official/leaked s2 OSs. (Key word being hope)

I don't know anything about S2's leaked and official OS's but I was on the S1 and I can tell you that you'd be happy with even Android 1.5 over any BlackBerry OS, IMO so 2.1 will be just fine. I didn't mind it at all, I just wanted me some flash goodness.

Yeah 2. 2 leak has been good for me so far. If I see that the official release has something new I'll go to it but for now I'm straight

1st Post! Okay got that out of the way. I personally don't think that X's update won't be seen until after the HTC Incredible OTA is complete.

it will probably be latter in the month there still pushing out the ota to droid 1 so they can get flash
and incredible is finishing up there ota
since we were the last out of the box it might be a while still

just hang in there and know that we who have the droid X have the best phone on the market as of now
but just remember there is always a better smart phone on it's way
the only way I'd get rid of my X is a bigger screen with duel capabilities and a 2 g
processor

Yeah the leaked ROM has been good enough for me too. Not a single issue. Thanks for keeping us posted Phil.
