[FullHDMI] Official FullHDMI discussion

Quick question (and one that might have already been answered)... the app is working fine for me. However, when I start it up, it prompts me to download a new module. If I click to start download, the app force closes. If I press the back button, it works fine. Am I doing something wrong with regard to downloading the new module? Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

i dont know if this helps with anything but, it works great on all my tvs except the "dynex" with built-in dvd player. it just restarts my phone the second i plug the cable in. im on the stock kernel, warm 2.2 rls5.

Thanks... it works fine, I just have to bypass that "new module" step.

The advantage would be that if you use Netarchy's kernel, you can use other features that the stock kernel with HDMI enabled would not let you use. Like overclocking the CPU and using wireless tether, for example. Also, Netarchy's has several kernel's that have HAVS, SBC, and other features that some people like/want, so if you do want any of those features, you would need to go one of Netarchy's modified kernels.

@spiicytuna: The "nick" is here. I'll be around, precious. You can count on that.

currently i already have wireless tether working, and do not care about the CPU settings on my phone, the battery charging and such, based on that, is there really much of a reason to change from the original kernel?

Thanks!!

Firstly, I just realized I double posted my response to you because I thought this had been deleted.

Anyway, wireless tether works on the stock kernel? Or do you have the SBC kernel that was later pulled? Either way, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it, I guess. if your phone is doing everything you want it to do, then I'd leave it as is. If you want to try one of the newer kernels to see if it performs better and/or to see if you get better battery life, then that would be up to you. Just create a NAND back up with your current set up so you can always flash back to where you are now should anything go wrong.

Anyone that adds offensive tags to this thread will also be banned.

OtisFeelgood: that's an interesting observation that you will never have an opportunity to confirm.

i have been using Mikfroyo and using the Wireless Tether program version 2.0.6. my understanding is that Mikfroyo uses the stock kernel.

I just read through the OP on XDA for Mikfroyo's rom, and I believe you are correct....it is the stock HTC kernel. On the OP of this thread, it reads:

What do I need to use this app:

* Rooted HTC EVO 4G.

This is the only thing needed. No need to flash a kernel for normal functionality.
A special Sense kernel is linked on this page and provides better and smoother mirroring than stock, and also allow the user to select where the audio should go, over HDMI or play on the phone (for Sense).

Therefore, with your current set up, you should be good to go with the exception of sound control. If you're happy with the phone as is, then no need to flash another kernel over it. Enjoy!

Some of the site features should help expedite support issues.

@discdoc Unless something has changed overnight, "modules" is not a part of FullHDMI but is a part of HDMwIn. You may want to check their thread for support. If you can't get help there, PM me.

Nice job on the site :)
Are you going to put up your benchmark results there as well?
Also, maybe a market link to the app?

It's a WIP right now I threw it together last night. In the end it will include the benchmarks, irc chat, and a couple other extras. The FullHDMI market page will link to the site but may throw a link back to the market page just in case. PM me for the irc nick registration link.

AWESOME work on the site Loki! Any did you get a chance to look at the problems I had? Thanks in advance

I'd suggest clearing the data, uninstalling, reboot phone and reinstall. If that doesn't work then Sam would be your best bet on this as most of the issues posted here I haven't had happen yet.

Hey Sam, can you shed some light on my situation????????????????????????????

out of curiosity - have you tried the busybox update?
Also, Apps and Services are different things, which is why you won't necessarily see this in the Running Apps section of settings, or be able to use the Force Close option. There are utilities that effect services directly however. You could try the free version of AutoKiller Memory from market and see if that helps you at all.
Does your service stay active even after you reboot the device?

Also, everytime I stop service, it just takes me back to where I was before I entered the app and says service started, over and over again, no matter how many times I try to stop it. So when I try to force close it, I can't find it in the running app drawer, so I go to all apps, select it, and the force close button isn't active. So I unplugged the hdmi cable, uninstalled the app, reinstalled the app plugged in the cable and without even turning it on, I get instant mirroring as if it was always running. Strange

If you try to stop the service and it fails, then you will get a "Cannot Stop Service" error in red text (and not a "Service Running" in green). What do you mean when you said that it takes you back to where you were before you entered the app?
Like Artlan said, the app and service/daemon are different. The app can be force closed from the app management but the service cannot and will continue to run after you uninstall if you cannot stop it for any reason.

The last update should have a "fail-safe" service stop. If you dont have busybox updated, the app still uses a kill switch to let the daemon know it needs to stop immediately.

Site updated, chat now enabled. The entire site is formatted for landscape mode on our Evo's, this includes a working chat! This allows users and potential users to visit and chat from their phones. Enjoy!
