FYI: PRL 13xxx means you're on the new Hybrid Network

Do you think Montana counts as mid west? I'm a firm believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it but I'm all for better service.

The mid-West includes, geographically, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Ohio and maybe Texas.

The West includes Montana, California, Wyoming, Arizona and New Mexico. Why do I exclude Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Nevada and Utah? Did you ever see a John Wayne or Roy Rogers movie set in Washington??!!

Montana is THE West and the only place that still maintains it.

Just curious I live in the Brooklyn, New York area and my prl is 15008, but have no voice probs, does anyone in the New York area have these problems with voice? In strong 4G area.

I'm in Westchester and have a PRL of 15008. I don't have any vocie problems - but I do feel my 3G service could be better (no 4G for me, but 7 miles away there is!)

For the no 3G stuck in 1X problem or for folks who for some reason have no data, the factory reset might fix your problem but here's a much easier way to fix the problem WITHOUT having to do a factory reset:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...blems-3g-data-dont-hard-reset-read-first.html

The problem is that Verizon's new 3G-eHPRD network which allows simultaneous 3G Voice + Data has been up and down lately and somewhat unreliable. A factory reset fixes the problem because it checks for the eHPRD network and if it doesn't exist it falls back on the EVDO Rev A network.

You can temporarily switch your phone back to EVO Rev A instead of doing the factory reset, and then when the eHPRD network comes back up switch back.

Here's the fix from landale's original thread which I linked above...

Until this is fixed you can manually fix this by dialing ##778# and hitting send in your dialer. The password is 000000. This will take you to your programming screen. Go to modem settings and then Rev A, change it to enabled and then hit the menu button on your phone and commit the changes. It will tell you to reboot and the problem will be fixed as you will now use the standard Rev A 3G networked used on all other Verizon 3G devices and of course if you have 4G it will use that if its available.

Tonight I called tech support from Verizon and was surprised to get in touch with a very knowledgeable rep. The Hybrid push is a known issue, but ONLY for certain customers. These customers are in certain areas and are either former Alltel customers or customers that are accessing former Alltels equipment. I to have the 15008 PRL, however my location, New Jersey, I am not affected by the Alltel issue, and even though she said she would send the update to my phone, she stated that it can cause other issues. Since she seemed very knowledgeable about this information, I decided to take her advise and stay clear of this update.

For any of you guys using Alltel towers or equipment, all the info you have read is correct and this pushed update should serve you phone well. Just first verify you are in that Alltel local.

Myself I suffer from loss of internet sometimes moving from one place to another. (home to work). She asked if I frequently get the cannot connect for internet message. I do. She also asked if I get the 1X instead of 3G frequently. I do. She stated that this is a know issue with the Thunderbolt and it can be rectified very easy by doing a full factory reset from settings. Since I was having more issues with the Internet then the phone calls I am going to try this fix. I hate reloading and setting everything back up but I am going to try it anyway.

For anyone thinking of this, this operation puts your phone back to factory release condition. You will lose all contacts and data info. Make sure your contacts, calendar and misc info is backed up first. If you have a Google Account everything is and will reappear after you re sign back in.

I am I'm duluth mn. I had full full bars, service, with my Droid X in most places. It's 3G only. I have called Verizon and asked about my prl, changed settings with ##778# and *#*#4636#*#* and I am still getting bad service. My prl is 15008. Never had Alltel here. I don't know what to do! With this poor of service the battery is down to 20% in three hours. This is my second thunderbold and 3rd sim card!

thunderbolt strikes again.

I have PRL 15008 and my network shows CDMA - eHRPD which the forum says is the new 3g network so who knows?;)

Its def not. Where my house is is not in Verizon coverage, im actually in "extended" coverage. So that means I'm using another carriers towers....
