G2 and Assistant

I have a Verizon LG G2 with 5.0.2. Assistant is supposed to work with 5 or higher but it won't work for me. I keep getting "Google has stopped." It gives me a choice to report but I get a blank screen when I try. Any ideas, your experiences? Thanks

Have you already tried clearing the Google app cache and data in Settings>Apps​?

Or you can long press Google app tap Info then scroll to storage clear data,cache and force stop.
(Short cut way )

Thanks, I cleared the google cache and force stopped it. Nothing changed. I also cleared the assistant cache I misspoke before. When I tap Reportit tells me to upgrade the app and when I do that it says "Item noot found." I think that's because I have the latest version of assistant (0.1.187945513.)
