G3 Battery Life experience. Whats yours?

My battery life today was pretty good. Best so far. 17 hrs on battery, 4 hrs 27 mins screen time. More than 2 hours waze (w GPS). And 4 percent left. My best so far

1.5hrs SOT with 75% left, that's s5 territory which makes me satisfied. 1.5hr SOT has need nexus somewhere around 55-60% left with Franco kernel.

What does Speedtest give you at that signal strength? For reference here is my Flex reporting from an office building data room.

I need to look at one asap now, see how similar it is to my phone in other ways. Ever since 4.4 the Flex has a Documents picker, ability to create zipfiles and some even zanier stuff.

Re: 2 concerns radio strength and battery life

Everyone I've known to have an LG device has had signal issues. Those devices weren't smartphones though but rather basic phones and a couple Chocolates. Either way, constant dropped calls and weaker signal caused every single one of them to ditch LG. No other phone manufacture has failed them at all and this includes Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and HTC.

Again, these issues could have been resolved since then but it's scared me away from giving LG a chance. The G3 does look like a monster of a phone though!

In a place where none of my other devices could even pretend to get a signal, my LG G Flex is -114dbm and still gets 10mbit down/3mbit up and does not drop calls. Most of the time I get -60 to -80 and at least 20-30mbit downloads...except one older spot that never breaches 15.

I can confirm my signal is worst than my s5. I have both phones to confirm

Your post is meaningless as it is. Can you please supply the dBm's for each phone?

I'm not sure how do that. I'm at work and my g3 gets two bars while the s5 has 5. I'm on AT&T as well

The bars mean absolutely nothing. A phone manufacturer can easily manipulate the bars on the phone through the software just as Apple did with he iPhone4. You want to measure the strength in dBm's and here is an article on how to find the dBm on any Android phone.

I tested my S5 along side the G3 when I bought the G3 at the ATT store and outside of it. The G3 surprisingly (to me) had a better signal by 2 db. The G3 is also pulling in LTE better than the G3 is where I am (I am in a low LTE signal area for a few days). I will put the sim back into the S5 at some point and test some more in traditionally low signal areas, but I was pleasantly surprised early (particularly in light of everything I have seen on here).

Re: 2 concerns on LG G3: radio strength and battery life

Went to att and compared my g2 with g3 and consistently the g3 is 5 to 10 dBm lower! I do think I held the g3 one way and it went up, maybe covered the antenna. I'm optimistic

Went back tot he AT&T store at lunch to compare the signal strength against my S3. The G3 had pretty much the same exact dBm's as my S3. However, at one point the G3 jumped up about 20 dBm's and where it had been sitting around 83-86 it jumped up to 100. It stayed there for less than a minute and then it went back to 83 dBm. Besdies the time where the G3 jumped up unexpectedly they were within 3 dBm's of each other at all times and at one point the G3 was better. Hopefully the crazy jump was just a one time thing and not consistent.

Reviews and people I know that have the device state the G3 has good battery life for light to medium users, but 90 to 120 less minutes if a heavy user. This is due to the display and the gpu pushing data to the display.

I have the S4 and the S3 before that. Friends report the signal is better than those. That is good. Equal or worse would be bad.

Just for the record, what device are you using?

My battery is clearly better than my s5

Re: 2 concerns on LG G3: radio strength and battery life

As a heavy user, I find the battery life exceptional. Easily beats the HTC One M8 and slightly bests the S5 (Yes, I've owned both).
Battery stats for today! 12 hours off charger and 4 hours of screen time. With 28% left. Always on LTE.

What do you have your screen brightness on? I like 60%.

Re: 2 concerns on LG G3: radio strength and battery life

Well this isn't scientific but I can now confirm sitting in the same spot in my home where I always do on the same carrier my LG G3 has two bars of signal where my GS III struggled to hold one. I could argue maybe AT&T built a new tower in 5 hours since I traded in my GS III but it looks like in this particular case my G3 has a better radio.

I also have one more bar of LTE in my house where I usually sit, but I am usually on WIFI in my home and the G3 is doing well there too. I know it is anecdotal and I need some more time with the G3 to get a better feel for the signal but having a Nexus 5 which I consider pretty bad, it is not too high a bar to top...not sure if it is better than my Moto X or not. My first day on the battery was impressive too, but again I need more time which I will get next week at work etc. I keep the screen on 50% which is what I usually set all of my devices at.
