G3 or wait for note 4

The thing I worry about with the Note 4 is that it will be bigger than the Note 3 which is already pushing the size limit for me. Right now I switch between an iPhone 5s (too small) and a Note 3 (borders on too big). I'm sorely tempted by the G3.

The G3 you won't believe until you hold one how great it feels and looks, you will be surprised at how they managed to fit a 5.5" display in this form, oh and that curve hmmm I like curves lol

The G3 is a very well made device! I was not expecting it to be and/or feel this premium. Its thin yet solid in the hand and feels great to hold. Why the hell can't Samsung who has BILLIONS make a device that feels and looks as premium as this?!? I'm sure they will take notice and re-design their line for next year.

I had the Note 2 and the Note 3. I tried the G2 and went back to the Note 3. Now I have the G3 because there was no way I was going to wait until September or October to see what the Note 4 will be. I rarely use the S-Pen, but Iove the screen size. With the G3 I don't fee like I have gone backwards in screen size compared to the N3. The G3 is very smooth and fluid. I love the design build of the phone and I like the buttons on the rear. There are 3 things I have found that are a bit troubling with the G3: 1. battery life is not as good as the N3, but it's not bad; signal strength is not as good and is about 5db less than the N3; Bluetooth is not as strong as the N3. When multiple devices are connected the G3's BT connection starts to break up. I might not be typical of the normal user, but I will have a BT headset for talking, BT audio through my car for music and BT connection to my Garmin for traffic, etc. The headset will start to break up and music will skip if all 3 are connected, even if they are not all sending. The N3 handled it all without issue. I had the same trouble with the G2 and hoped it would be resolved with the G3.

All in all I really like the G3, especially the screen and build. I still have 9 days to return it, but at this point I don't plan on it. I also bought the ½ price G Watch when I got the G3 and I like how they work together. I know I could do the same thing with my N3, but I probably would't have paid full price for the watch.

I was on the fence with same question, went with the g3 and couldn't be happier.

I've owned the note 2 and 3 even though I have never really been a fan of touchwiz. Liking the g4 software and love the buttons in the back of the device, no more accidently hitting the power button when holding the phone by the sides.

Th note is Samsung and will have KNOX.
If root or bootloader unlock is important to you, don't buy Samsung.

I find the BT on all devices pretty much suck. This day and age, BT should be flawless on any phone. With that said, I find the G3 (on Sprint) has better signal than my N3. Where I lost signal with the N3, I don't with the G3. With the battery, the N3 has 3200mAh while the G3's is 3000. So the N3 IS going to have a little bit better batt life. But with my use on both devices, they both last me through the day and then some. Although they last me, I'm not a phone HO and on it all the time.

It only takes count of your flashing/roming and can't be reset. Your warrantee would most likely be void if that matters to you.

Your warranty is void anyway. If your phone gets destroyed Knox isn't really a problem.

I may eat my words , the G3 will outshine the N4 in terms of build and design.

The N4 will throw it all in and no doubt be a spec whores wet dream.

But the G3 has that cutting edge where time and thought went into it, quite like the Z2.

Samsung just seem lazy in that regard.

It has been mentioned that the N4 is going to be a new design hmmm the dimples will be less perhaps lol instead of 44 they will opt for 23 maybe hmm

Jokes aside no doubt the N4 will be a great smartphone but you can go on and on and on and on and on OK you get the point.

The G3 I like many many others appreciate the build and design and great features it has on offer :-)

Matter of Opinion much?

I like Samsung design way more then LG's new Design scheme with the button on the back .... I Hate them and that is almost a Dealbreaker for me on the G3. I prefer Touchwiz skin over the others from LG, HTC and etc. QHD Screens specially on a 5.5 inch screen with the 3000 mah battery for marginal screen quality upgrade over 1080p which even 1080p at 5.5 inches can be questioned. Just look at the Chart below which will be a Chat showing you when 1080p is noticeable to you on Size of screen vs distance . Also me as being a power user the 3000 mah battery is a joke in my opinion but if your a light to medium user the battery is a non factor

Well rumors have the note 4 being same size screen wise as the note 3, so if anything maybe samsung shrinks the bezels to make it smaller than the note 3 like they did with the note 3 compared to the note 2.

Only thing "cutting edge" with the g3 would be the screen. Same processor as other flagships that came out months before, same amount of ram as the z2 and note 3, the design is nice, yes, but not really cutting edge in regards to that either.

I returned a rooted Galaxy S4 at a Sprint store for a replacement, they didn't care.

What about that cutting edge "thought" take specs out of it as other than the screen yes they are the same.

What about effort? That Lg opted for laser autofocus? Which works but with me saying that there will be one saying otherwise, such is the nature of all things and that is fine by me.

Whilst you may not agree with me and I don't expect or believe all would "I'm not that arrogant"

As a tech enthusiast like myself I see positives in all phones released thus far.

Some more than others though.

I believe Lg with reducing those bezels and making this 5.5" device fit comfortably in hand (yes again not all will find this) but they made effort, as they did with design and implementation of plastics.

Define your cutting edge what would that be?

A projector built in?

Battery tech hasn't advanced enough yet hence all OEM's opting for ways to conserve
Press a button and your phone transforms into a spaceship perhaps?

No the G3 is not perfect and it won't appeal to everyone.

But is it a great device? Yes,

Is the build great? Yes

Are the features useful? Yes

It will all depend on ones likes and dislikes.

I dislike the S5 as I don't like the lacklustre design, the camera in lowlight, don't see the point in the heart rate monitor ect. But is it a good smartphone for some yes it is and I like some of the other features, but for me I couldn't purchase it as I wouldn't be happy.

So each to their own but features on the S5 were cutting edge, as with the M8 and oppo, one plus ect.

The G3 is bad *^&! Had the N3 and loved it so much I traded my step dad for his G2. Actually liked it but I had an upgrade and traded it in for the G3. It's a sweet phone.

Ironic for me since found the G3 anchored by the Qhd with heavy use and found the Note 3 far better in that regard. Battery life with heavy use is much better on the Note 3.

Still, if not a heavy user, batter life is a little better on the G3. Anandtech and GSM also show this result as well.

Catch is I prefer the G3 size and would have bought it if 1080p since more battery life and better performance.

Note 3's like the Z2 has 200mah more than the G3 and a lower res screen so its of no surprise that it lasts longer.

But as I have stated even though the G3 is powered by the 801 and not the 805 it still holds up reasonably well, and I suspect sometime soon a 3500mah will be available or even replacement batteries, that's right its removable and can be swapped out very easily.

Happy Camper me lol

I do not disagree with you. I used to like samsung but they seem to be taking the apple path with only minor upgrades and releasing a ton of variants of their phone, it seems the note line is their true flagship and not getting replaced a month or two down the road like the s5 has been. I am glad to see more competition because it is better for us as consumers that way.

I wish LG would have stuck at least a 3200mah battery in. I am sure they could have done it, just to give it that extra juice for those heavy users or on those long days.

Coming from the Note 3 I would not get another Samsung device after using the G3. The UI is far superior on the G3 compared to what Samsung has to offer.
