So guys I noticed a weird thing this afternoon. I plugged the phone in at about 15% and I started to play a little game. Not sure how long I was playing maybe 10-15 minutes. When I looked the battery was at 6%. Phone was on the charger! I then exited the game and put the phone down and started some cleaning. About 10 minutes later I went back and the phone was down to 2%!!! I couldn't understand what happened. This is exactly what was happening with my s3 before I switched to this phone. I unplugged the phone to make sure it was plugged in correctly. When I unplugged I got the notice that there was no power left and it shut down. I can't even tell what was running or if the game was still running. So very odd. I really hope this is not going to become a trend.

Was the phone charger switched on at the socket?

I have worked in tech support and it would surprise you the calls I would get and this was the issue :-P

Hi May!! We're you using the stock charger that came with the device? Is it the same outlet you use in the house? Could possible be the outlet in the wall is failing. We need to know more of the common denominators or if that is just you LOL

I've seen much the same thing. May, please check and post your battery history graph from this.

One night, screen off, plugged in, my battery dropped from 55% to 22%. The battery graph showed the battery % going up/down/up/down all night.

I will try to post my screenshot later. I think the phone was staying warm (rogue app?), which slowed down the charge rate sufficiently that it actually lost charge.

Short form, I believe you :)

I bet the battery hit that 90 degree mark and drastically reduced the charging rate while you were gaming and since it didn't have enough time to cool down right after you stopped playing it just kept discharging. Or maybe the game was still running.

Ok so I haven't moved the original charger since getting the phone. As far as I'm concerned there's no on off switch on it. I couldn't get any screen shots cause the phone died before I could even investigate. And Miller you better be happy I haven't talked to you in so long! Otherwise I'd have to send you a forum punch!

I'm pretty sure I exited the game. It asked if I'm sure I want to quit. I started playing the game a couple days ago and did noticed the battery drain while playing. But this is just unexpected!

I got frustrated and finally took out the spare battery I got and put the other one to charge in the cradle.

This is a screenshot of my phone discharging itself overnight. Plugged in and actively "charging" the whole time, with the screen off.

Further details are in this post, in another thread. I don't want to clutter yours too much, May:

Similar situation to mine. Only I'm pretty sure it's related to the game I was playing. Alphabetty. I'm gonna test it out again shortly. I'm not worried though. I get bored with games pretty quick.

I've noticed the battery seems to charge very slowly when it gets under 20% or so. When I first got it I had to go on a road trip and the battery was pretty low. I was streaming music, running Waze and plugged in and after about 2 hours I had barely gained any charge and screen was off most of the time

I had a similar situation but with my old phone, Samsung infuse to be specific. Whenever I charge my phone sometimes it wont work or it will restart itself and not charging at all. Then one time I was using it and charging at the same time, then bam! the connection between the charger and the charing port of the phone sparked and burned! And from that day on I never use wall chargers anymore! I despise, hate, loathe, dislike it! and I use battery cradle which is very convenient and suits my need instead. No more damn waiting for couple of hours for fully charge, not worrying for finding a wall socket to charge your fone when youre running out of juice ( airport, public places, camp site etc) Thats why i have my army of batteries and cradle ready for war lol.. So you should swap your batteries on a daily basis, very very very convenient.

May please let us know if this happens again...pretty concerning. I haven't had this sort of thing occur yet. (knock on wood)

Okie dokie! I was playing again this morning and the phone actually charging while playing. Phone was dead this morning cause I was playing the game last night. The battery was kinda low though I can't remember where it was and I feel asleep playing the game. Oops

Crikey. My Mrs said my spare battery/charger pack was 'overkill'.

I'm sending her this...

My battery has always lasted the entire day. I would think it convenient to have to use a cradle every day for charging and the case I'm using is easy to remove - Spigen Slim Armor. My "free" spare battery and cradle is just for backup.
