G5 owners - happy or not?

I'll be honest, most of the negativity is coming from the Samsung fan boys. These forums are heavily biased towards Samsung or even Nexus to some degree. The G5 clearly is & was clearly the best phone at the MWC 2016. You should be proud & happy with your purchase, enjoy!
All it has to be is the best for me. I just wanted to share that my G5 didn't show up at the door, call my fiance a hooker and then explode.

With all due respect, some of the negativity also came from some G5 owners and some LG fans in general. So I don't think assuming that most people who is negative about the G5 are fanboys of Samsung or other competing manufacturers is a smart move.

I am sure there is a mix of people who got a G5 and were disappointed for whatever reason as well as people who fan boy something else and want to knock it. This is the internet.

I'm sure there are a number of people who are happy with it and don't post on boards. Pissed off people feel the need to tell the world much more and the G5 isn't a trendy, at least not as much as an apple or GS7, enough device for people to just want to brag about.

There are a bunch of people out there who are satisfied with the G5 and that is fine. It definitely looks to be a solid phone.

But for me, LG needs to sort out their quality control seriously this time, because I can't recommend it at $600+ until the issues with the bleeding backlight are sorted on more batches in the future.

I want to like the phone since I really think it's a solid phone even though I think the whole "Friends" thing isn't gonna take off. But the backlight bleeding issue on more than a few batches is really starting to worry me.

True, but those are small numbers. There's very good reason why the phone was the best at MWC 2016. These awards are not handed out lightly either, there's a panel of hand picked experts that fly over to judge all the new phones....and yes the S7 was also at the conference & failed to win.

Personally, the S7 won MWC for me, but that's just my personal opinion.

Both phones did get the "Best at MWC 2016" awards for different reasons.

Whichever phone you decide to get, you're getting 2 of the best phones shown off at MWC 2016 this year. To me, deciding between the 2 is simple. Want water-resistance and a large battery? Go with the S7 (Edge). Want something different and with a swappable battery? Go with the LG G5.

I completely understand your point of view. I preordered so I had mine when I read about all this.

I am just sharing my experience. I can't talk about issues that I am not having. I do think the screen issue is something people should be aware of. If my phone came like that I would be at the Verizon store within the hour.

Always a bit of a risk preordering though

Pre-ordering is always a risk, since you never actually got to use whatever you pre-ordered and you can't decide whether you like it or not as you're basing on first impressions on videos made by tech-journalists.

Just make sure your phone meets your quality expectations and if it does, she's a keeper. If it doesn't, you know what to do. ;)

Everybody just has to realize that there isn't one perfect device or anything for that matter. People thought the iPhone was the perfect device and well, it isn't. The same with Samsungs, Motorolas, Chevy's, Fords, couches, beds etc. People just need to get over it. Whatever it may be, it's not perfect.

Sometimes I think some people just get devices and instead of enjoying them, they want to be the first to find an issue with it or some type of discrepancy with it. So tgey dig and dig until they find one little issue and then they start a thread and get people's approval on what THEY should do...smh. If someone isn't happy with the phone, then just return it or exchange it ...for a different device that won't be perfect either.

New release time is always so much fun. People get so defensive and easily hurt that it's amusing to watch.
If someone doesn't like the phone you choose so what ? People seem to choose a phone based more on perception and what other people think than what they really like and want. It's went from anyone who doesn't like android is a sheep to anyone that doesn't like my phone is a sheep. It's funny how bad people need the acceptance of a bunch of strangers to feel justified in their decisions. I don't fault anyone for what THEY want and what THEY like.

Exact! Well said!

I think it's important to note that every person has different usage patterns and their buying decisions are also affected by experience with a particular OEM.

Take me for instance. I got the LG G4 because I needed a phone with an SD card slot and decent battery life. I wasn't big on the removable battery, but got the cradle as a backup anyway. Since then, I had to replace it once with another unit and the second unit is starting to chalk up issues, leading me to consider replacing it with the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 as a result. Reason is that if the S7 is any indication, the Note will have a really large battery, which is big to me since I found out that I didn't swap my G4's battery that often if the thing dies and that since the 2 longest-surviving phones in my house were all by Samsung, it kinda gives me a little peace-of-mind. It also has an SD card slot, which wasn't present in its predecessor.

That's just my thought process. The Note 6 and even the S7 Edge fits my needs, but I know they don't fit every user's needs.

You're right, when you pick out a phone... you pick a phone to match your consumer needs. The decision was easy for me as well. While the S7 has the best form factor, the G5 is more advanced with much more potential to cater to other consumer needs as well. Headphone audio quality is a huge factor for so I tend to go with the best...which is the G5 at the moment. There's nothing worse than going through a 3 hour workout with crappy audio.

Yes, while both phones were declared the best at MWC 2016...there was only room for one at the top...I'll let you guess which one took the crown :)

I'm trying to give this all the thumbs up, but it won't let me.
