Galaxy F, Galaxy S5 Prime, Galaxy KQ

Re: Those who got a Galaxy S5 might be disappointed to hear this...

Honestly I wasn't expecting too much but I was surprised with the improvements Samsung made.

When I bought this over the M8 because of Build issues I said that it's temporarily as I'm really waiting for my most anticipated Super Phone of 2014.

Sony XPERIA Z2.

What we have is the current flagship model - the QHD screens and Snapdragon 805s are not ready for mass production yet. I think with the speed of the mobile industry, Samsung decided to shift to an every 6 month refresh cycle. This makes sense - how many people who bought the LG G2, Moto X, Nexus 5, iPhone 5S might have instead bought a refreshed Galaxy S in the fall/winter? I doubt this device will come to the US over the next couple of months, so we can all enjoy our current cutting edge devices in the meantime - something better is always (always!) around the corner.

But then you'd have this "prime" version stepping on the toes of the next Note - Galaxy S series in the Spring, Galaxy Note series in the Fall.

Yeah, I'm waiting to see what is coming with the Note 4. That's probably my upgrade path!

Definitely looks like the competitor to G3.
Launching June according to the latest rumors.

I won't be surprised with launch of S5 prime,i mean look at LG G,G2 they always had the advantage of the later launch cycle resulting in a better phone against S3 and S4.

Actually LG has been challenging Samsung a lot particularly in States, also there's the new iPhone coming out.

Here's the unboxing video.

Michael Fisher of pocketnow.

I saw that and thought interesting that he referred to the phone as the prime. Could it be all she wrote on the S5, a domestic-only variant? If I were Samsung I would focus on making the Note 4 a smash hit at this point. They have the financial muscle to push a prime into the face of the market though, so we'll see.

Edit: If I was a S5 owner I'd have an incredible device in hand, but a wide release of a prime *too* soon would still rub the wrong way.

The purpose of this device is to cement Samsung's identity in the mobile industry as a premium smartphone manufacture. Samsung prides itself on it's large displays, exchangeable batteries and expandable storage. Features that Apples iPhone doesn't have making Samsung's S devices the alternate choice and a "better" smartphone. Take those features away and is Samsung devices still wanted by consumers for it's other features(Super AMOLED display, camera res., S health/heart rate, etc. )? Samsung is testing itself with this device and will ultimately change its future line of smartphones.
