Galaxy Note 3 - Case & Covers Thread

Is the Trident Cyclops case slippery at all? I heard the sides aren't but the back of it is. I'm now thinking about ordering this one.

not much. It's textured a bit & the rubber corners return to the back. The plastic actually sits up about 1/16" from the surface when on its back from the rubber corner feet.

So it seems that people who have bought the Trident Cyclops (just ordered mine) do not like the built in screen protector at all

why is it crappy? And what screen protectors out there will fit with this case? all? most?

I have the Kraken which has a similar built in screen protector. Think of the built in screen protector as a piece of plastic on top of the screen. The feel isn't anywhere close to as good as a glass screen protector. Aside from that, it can have the rainbow effect and dirt can get between the screen protector and the glass. It also shows fingerprints much more than my meme glass screen protector and scratches easier.

Yes the built in screen protector is horrible. I removed it before putting the case on. It is a flimsy piece of plastic.

I use the Zagg invisible shield and have not had any issues. Others use the Tempered glass

If you remove it, use a hair dryer to heat the adhesive. It was pretty easy to remove and doesn't leave any residue, assuming that it is the same as the Kraken

I don't mind the rainbow effect, it seems to happen on all the cases with built in screen protectors and I don't notice it when the screen is on, I haven't had a problem with dust getting under the screen yet. The only grip I had with the Kraken was the S pen would drag on the screen protector, simple fix, use auto wax and wax the protector, make sure it is not a cleaner type wax, as these could contain abrasives, makes it feel as good as a naked screen.

Thanks for the tip. Never thought of using wax. Does it have fingerprint issues?

Doesn't seem to make it any worse in my experience, I've waxed my screens for years, phones, helmet shields, I have had the Kraken for a couple of months, waxed it first day, been great since with only that one application, smooth as glass. I use a carnauba paste wax.

Didn't you already ask this question? :)

LOL, sort of. I guess my orginal was asking why the built in one was crappy, and if all screen protectors would still fit with the case

now I'm asking for which ones people have with that case....seems different to me ;)

How did you remove it?? Is there a good/bad way to do it??

I just used a hair dryer to heat up and slowly peeled off the screen protector on my Kraken

You can use a hairdryer, but on my Trident cyclops I just popped it out carefully with a little force with my hands.

Was surprised how easy it was to do that. Almost like not much was holding the screen protector attached to the case. Not very impressed with the quality at all

Thanks. I'll consider this as a possibility. I would still l some feedback on good basic phones and sources to put on this line. I'd like the option to use it as a spare phone.

I bought a few vx6100 from amazon recently for $10 a piece. I don't see them anymore though.

You could do that too. But using a hair dryer I was able to keep most of the adhesive on the screen protector... Just in case of warranty issue.
