Galaxy Note 3 drains battery faster than space shuttle burned fuel

Here's a thread i started about using the 4.3 app ops that let's you toggle stuff on/off at a deeper level. It works great for me.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=322082

I have posted this at least ten times. If people don't use it, it can't help them. I can only point it out when people complain about battery life.

This worked for me...

After installing Wakelock Detector (free from Google Play), I found that NLP Collector and another similarly named device was stopping my phone going to deep sleep.

There are a couple of services that you can find under 'Manage Applications' that should have be cleared.

TBH I can't totally remember, but I'm pretty sure that when I deleted the cache and cleared data of Google Play Services and Google Services Framework, that sorted out the problem. Now with phone in flight mode, after 7 hours, battery only goes down 0% or 1%. (I'm sure it's safe to do, but it *might* be worth doing a bit of research first.)

Give that a go and let us know if it worked.

Trying out Wakelock like it so far. I've been able to keep a charge now since for a couple hours with moderate usage turning things off and on and still around 93% so, so far better but i dont like how hands on and time consuming Andriod thing is vs Windows...Just want it to go back to the pre ATT update days where draining the battery was unheard off...

Is this reasonable? I it sure why UCCW is so much when it's just a clock widget?

I too have a problem on my battery draining too fast. I have read a lot of suggestions and nothing works. Here's what I observed, when you press and hold the home button and press the pizza logo and click RAM then click clear memory, you will see that it closes a lot of applications mine more than 30. So even though you are not using your phone these apps are running. I tried the "Battery Doctor" apps as suggested from other siteand helps battery life tremendously by40%.

If I do a factory reset will I lose everything? How do I save my stuff?

I have a GN3 for about a month now. After the ATT update I've had my battery die within hours of being charged. First time it said the internet was in use even though phone had been locked. Last night watched it drop from 100% charge to 0 from around 10 pm to 6 am when it woke me up with the beep turning off thing. Looking at the battery usage screen it says Google Play Services. I have everything configured to work off of Wifi restricted to wifi. aka turn off background data. Upon further inspection it show some Location service with Google play. My battery now has drained twice. I gave up a great Windows phone for this one ....seriously not happy and no way to return past the return phone stage. I like the N3 but we shouldnt have to go to all this work to get it to WORK....seriously I dont have a lot of apps I'm new to Andriod.
I have one game on it and three on the storage. I have all the bloatware that I'd love to get rid off. I have Aldiko, Kindle and Nook on it and everything is otwsn the storage so I dont get it...whats with the battery thing....anyone anyone because I spent a boat load on it and it drains overnight in hours from google play.....

All having a problem with a big battery drain on Note 3 - Simple switch off location service based on networks (Settings->Location services->use wireless nets (or something similar - I use Polish menu). This will help:) Have fun!

I just had to have my note 3 replaced. It was garbage. Froze up at least twice a day and the battery life was garbage also. Samsung warrantied it and my new Note 3 is running flawlessly....

Being outside I have also noticed huge battery drain by google location services which are checking locations very often with gsm net. In addition to switching off network based location services I suggest, for even better savings, to switch off location services for google (google settings app) and google now.
Google maps work, this is the only google app I use.

Brand new to Android as the Note 3 is my first (coming from an I4). Love it so far..I needed the big screen!! But i too have fast battery drain...I began unloading apps as well as frequently clearing the ram and turning off apps. I fully charged my phone overnight and and disconnected at 7:15 am (showed 100 percent), now it's 9:15 am and it's showing 64 percent. Only thing I've done is some texting with my wife. I also have my corporate and personal email accounts setup and running in background. I've changed my custom pic home/lock screen to the default static pics as well. I guess my next step is to reset the phone and try again... or how do i monitor apps/memory usage?

My Note 3 was at 90% before bed last night.18 hours later it is at 51%

Not even going to talk about what it taking up all your battery, but have you used the great feature of "removealbe battery" on the Note 3..I have 2 spare batteries. I keep at least one with me.

using a bigger more protective cover makes it inconvenient to change batteries on the fly... haven't reset it yet but I took a few more apps off and one of them may have contributed to the drain. started at 7:15 am at 100 percent, at 9:15 am I was already down to 64 percent, then I uninstalled a few more apps and at 3:26 pm, it's dropped to 42 percent so it definitely has slowed down...

At the moment there's an ongoing issue with Google Play Services that's affecting most Android phones I imagine. It's been at the top of the list of power draining apps for most people the past few days. Check and see if that's a battery hog. If it is, then you're not alone and can expect an improvement once it's fixed.

Unfortunately I don't know if anything can be done to stop it on our end. We just have to wait until Google fixes it.

Hi guys ... just to let you know that I too had a serious battery drain issue and a "system isn't responding " notice that keep popping up from time to time. I did facfory resets, un jnstalled programs and the same thing happened even on the replacement phone that I received for the original.

Having forked out for the note 3 and gear watch, I of course wanted the best of everything available .... so I also installed a brand new genuine scandisk 64gb memory card ...... that was causing the trouble. I swapped it out for a 32gb card and thank God it is now working perfectly. No more heating up, no more system isn't responding messages, no more disconnecting from wifi and now a few days on battery charge instead of hours.

Perhaps I bought a card that had faults .....strange though it works perfectly well on anything but the note 3 ... or perhaps samsung have a slight firmware bug that doesn't like 64gb cards !

Hopefully your issues are similar to what mine were, and changing to the smaller card does the trick to cure things.

I've tried everything deleting apps, changing settings for the last week, etc. Not much else can be done. I'm not using a memory card either. I don't need a new battery, phone was working just fine before the update.

There isn't anything you can do to fix this issue. It is a issue on Googles side but they have yet to acknowledge it or fix it so who knows when it'll be fixed but once it is I'm sure you won't be having an issue.
