Galaxy S20 Launch = Complete FLOP !

Best Buy counter jockey says his store had less than 10 pre orders for the new Galaxy S20 phones and that nobody is buying them.

He stated that half of the pre orders have not even been picked up yet and the S20 launch was a complete flop.

Went in there today looking for a 512GB Ultra, guy says he has plenty of 128GB but no 512GB at all.

Hopefully they will have mine on the 11th when promised.

Counter jockey? That's a rude way to talk about customer service..what is it that you do?

Well, right now we can say the S series is the more advanced phone over the note. When it's the next note releases then the note will be more advanced, and the cycle keeps going. The S pen is basically the only difference between the 2. This " one is more advanced then the other" idea needs to go to bed.

I'm speaking in terms for the current year. The Note always adds new refinements to what the S line introduces for that year. And I never said it was more advanced but some people would argue that the SPen does make it a more advanced device since it can do more and adds more versatility whether you use it or not.

Umm It's not a complete flop. This is why I had a problem with the OP posting this thread - without any statistics/facts to back up his claim, other than his local best buy low on s20 orders. Now everyone thinks north american sales are low - which they may well be - but the phone just launched, it is way too soon to tell right now.
There are also other indicators of a failed launch .. as I mentioned the secondary market are also indicative of that, eBay and swappa. Normally the week after a launch prices will be about $50 to $100 off retail. Now they're going for almost $200 to $250 off retail just a few days after launch.

It's most definitely a flop and indicators are proving it.

Samsung themselves admitted as much. I mean, they didn't say flop though.

Pre sales were way down.

The phones can't be a flop. It's impossible.

They've been out 3 days.

It would be nice to move on now.

You know the saying if they're not talking about you you're not relevant. Let them talk I will continue to enjoy my Ultra regardless of who bought, returned it, that it was a bad idea etc. Work is slow so I can appreciate some of the comical comments/opinions.

That's what everyone says, but look how well it's turned out for Apple. Same with big screens. I give Samsubg credit for going against the grain and not allowing people to put them in one mold. May seem obsessive but they make phones for every budget.

I agree with the phones for every budget but their should be one expensive flagship . It should have the best of everything.

Exactly..... No regrets that impact my life or my enjoyment here.

A lousy Samsung credit to buy overpriced accessories

Lousy Samsung store credit? Come on now.. I got Galaxy Buds for free. I guess you can call that lousy if you want but I certainly would not...

Yea at least now they're giving you a choice instead of forcing specific accessories on you.

In before someone says Samsung phones does this and does that over iPhones etc since they blindly hate anything Apple

Yeah it's crazy Samsung is starting their base flagship price at $999 and the iPhone 11 starts at $699. And yes there are major feature differences but normal people don't give a ****. They see the latest iPhone model starts at $699 and the latest Samsung model starts at $999. It's a tough sell and atleast in US they will say alright let me go with the iPhone 11.

But the crapple phone 11 doesn't even have a 1080p screen, no 120hz, only a dual camera, only 64GB of storage, only 4GB RAM, and has a fugly *** notch. I think all of those things are worth the extra $300 for the S20?? Not including the extra stuff Samsung gives out with their new phones. lol

All in all the price should be compared to the 11 pro 256GB models. Once you do the difference in price is extremely dismal.

Using the word “crapple” certainly did add credibility to your argument.......not.

We’ll have to see. Wonder how much 5G really contributes in the Samsung’s inflated price. If the article below is accurate, I think the inflated price is due to something else...

Cost to make the $1099 iPhone Max Pro... $490.50

Cost to make the $1399 Samsung S20 Ultra... $528.50

I guess if the iPhone 12 Max Pro costs $38 more to make, they will be able to justify the $1399 price.

I always thought I was in the wrong profession:))

The cost based on materials is such a bad argument. There are so many things involved engineering, product roadmaps, research, marketing, sales, manufacturing, logistics, support and of course profit margins. Why the hell do companies make products and sell at cost. They aren't running charity and yes they want to have profit margin

Of course there are different models of making money. Sell hardware as commodity and make money thru ads and services on phone. But that's mostly Chinese phone makers who go for that model and sure there are exceptions where companies make lesser profit margin to begin with so that they can get market share or they aren't in position to demand high prices. At the end going by material cost of the phone is silly and there are lot more factors that go into the cost.
At least in my opinion.
