I had my Galaxy S3 for about 10 months and I started having problems with the battery couple days ago. I would charge it overnight and I would unplug it in the morning with 100% battery. Then when I check my phone about 10 minutes later, the battery would be at 60-50%.

I checked the graph under battery in settings and it would show this huge drop. But after the drop, it would run normally for the rest of the day.

I have no idea what's happening, and please help!

Welcome to Android Central! The first thing to do is install a good battery monitor app like GSam Battery Monitor, that gives you a nice breakdown of what is using battery and CPU, and what is keeping the phone awake. It may help you pinpoint the problem, or if you post screenshots of the stats, it may help us help you!

If the battery level was really dropping 40% in the space of a minute or so, I'd expect the phone to be so hot that you could cook an egg on the screen.

Instead, I think that your battery is just defective and no longer holding a full charge. The battery stats are just skewed because of this.

I fixed this problem by flashing the system to Cyanogenmod and the battery is sooooo good after upgrading.
