Galaxy S5 or M8 - Which are you more likely to buy?

What is the benefit of this statement you made outside of trolling?

If the dunce hat, fits wear it and dont get mad at me

The only thing I tend to object to here is people representing their opinions as fact. I don't insist people be polite, that's not an ability everyone possesses. I recognize I'm on an android forum so I get to routinely read everyone's opinion about how android is superior to the competition and most definitely Apple. I get it. I only object when folks seem to forget forum etiquette and that it's their opinion they're pontificating. ...and I'm always willing to be wrong and will certainly admit when I am. I'm an Alpha, I have no ego to bruise.

Re: Galaxy S5 or M8 - Which are you more likely to buy?

Madlaw said the same thing i am saying and you people have done nothing but continually attacked my post without ever acknowledging the truth in any of what I said. Which is true for every user of any kind of tech at all. unless you just buy things to have the latest number or brand name edition. In that case quality, build, software, protection, investing time in your device mean nothing to you and you are right. I expected better, as I said, I was in this thread to discuss the S5 and M8 and their specs and features and software and android builds to be released on them.....not to hear guys rag on one company or the other and certainly not to be flamed for speaking truth. There were no veiled insults. If the dunce hat, fits wear it and dont get mad at me

As i've continually said you have to look at real data about ALL of the above criteria and then make an informed decision, i never said it was just about speed, i never said any of those assertions you seem to draw a defense about. Fact is you, Haalycon, and whoever is taking that position is being defensive, i never said a particular device was best but said to look at real data and whats available from developers , quality etc. just read my post without the stick up arse. again...."so we live in a world where someone suggesting to look at real data and not the opinions of the uninformed is the guy trying to force everyone or being "dead set" on forcing an opinion. youre missing the point and how it relates to these devices. Your misquoting and creating a conclusion to suit your needs"

YOU feel insulted for whatever reason and i cant effect that. The video posted before as I said shared my opinion about the question of "what do people really want". I dont even get what youre trying to defend. People shouldnt pick phones based on real stats about quality,? design,? lifespan? and build, ?real world tested applications,? people dont need cases? what have i said that is really so insulting unless something i said rings true to your mindset. What do you want? You've done nothing but attack my post..and my post have dont nothing but ask for people to use reason and logic in discussing and sharing information about devices.

If you don't mind, can you give me an example of "real data"? Reviews (both professional and amateur) are one thing, but "real data" is something I'm not understanding. Is real data akin to technical specs?

This is a friendly reminder to keep discussion productive, on topic and civil. If you don't care for a post, please ignore it and move on or report it if you feel that it violates forum rules. Insulting other members, whether thinly veiled or not, is frowned upon. Thanks!

Real data is when actual facts and figures are brought into play and not statements made through opinion.

Best example I can give is right before HTC release the HTC One, they went over why they redesigned Sense for it.

Here is some of the items they listed.

During our research, a few consistent patterns emerged:
Most people don?t differentiate between apps and widgets.
Widgets aren?t widely used ? weather, clock and music are the most used and after that, fewer than 10% of customers use any other widgets.
Most of you don?t modify your home screens much. In fact, after the first month of use, approximately 80% of you don?t change your home screens any more.

Even though we don't know exactly how HTC got this data, I am sure it came from real world market research and anonymous usage statics being sent from other HTC phones.

I'm not offended or insulted at all. I'm simply saying, and you're ignoring the fact (at least that's how it seems) that some people do choose devices based primarily on looks. The problem that you seem to have with that is that you can't assign a value to it like you can performance or battery life.

For example, let's say you have two devices that run identical software. Spec for spec nothing is different. But they have two different designs and look nothing alike. Some people will think one looks better than the other and choose that one, while others will choose the other.

So, since you still didn't answer my question even after I asked it twice, in the above situation how would you choose which device to get?

If the Nexus 5 did exist then I would prefer the HTC One. I was like the design of HTC products and their software ha jumped leaps and bounds since I have had my HTC Thunderbolt. However I did S3 and do appreciate software change to touchwiz as well. The design changes of Note 3 and S5 made devices look far better than they ever had IMO. Again I would spend my money on HTC One. I love the metal body and curves are much appreciated on this years model.

If I could only choose one of those two, it would be the S5 all the way. Way better accessory support and Samsungs ecosystem is large. All their stuff integrates with each other.

Thinking at this point I may just hold off and keep my HTC One. Neither are a big enough upgrade right now. Lacking in RAM and the CPU seems to be minor.

HTC for me too! I had an old windows phone TP2 my 1st smart phone and from then on HTC EVO the EVO3D the EVO4G LTE and now the One. 1st EVOI was the best accept for bad battery life the 3D wasn't so great and the 4G LTE was great IMO and now I own the HTC one and it's been thge best so far. Love the speakers and just about everything about it. Memory card doesn't bother me i'm used to not having one and have been used to know battery but that would be the only thing I would want on the new One is to be able to just swap out a battery but it won't keep my from buying this phone. I'm sure the S5 will be good to but I prefer HTC and can't wait for the new One.

Re: Galaxy S5 or M8 - Which are you more likely to buy?

Right now I still have a HTC Droid DNA that I am very happy with. I have no clue what my next phone will be at this point. I have no allegiance to one brand or another, nor do I engage in the whole my phone is better than your phone pissing matches. Both look like excellent phones at this point. However, until I see some good hands on reviews of them neither one is a win in my book at this point. After they get a good workout I may get one or possibly something entirely different. Hell I'm still happy enough with my DNA if one of them don't totally blow me away I may even wait till the next round of phones come out. I just go with what catches my eye, fits my needs and really don't care if others like it or not.

I don't care what kind of phone you have, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

I forgot about that part. They throw in hundreds of dollars worth of subscriptions and software with their more recent devices. I might look at the S5 now hmmm.

I still think they should call it the HTC Two, but I guess some would think that silly.

htc one for sure, the s5 looks like a bandaid. literally!

But the HTC One looks like an aluminum can?

But in all seriousness, the new HTC One has gained quite a bit of size yet only has a 5" screen. I believe it is 146mm in length, thats almost Z2 length and that phone is known to be an ergonomic nightmare with its massive bezels and overall size.

It just doesn't seem like HTC is trying to push the design forward, they made the device bigger instead of trying to decrease size overall, even with the bigger device they can barely squeeze a 2600mah battery while others are already in the 3000 range in similar sized devices.

Boom sound makes up for bigger bezels... Plus how else would they fit 3 cameras in a body... Lol
New leaks say it a 5Mp, 4UP, and a 16MP camera... Seriously?
Anyways, I've been using my One for 6 months I feel like getting a new phone, and I will get HTC One the day it's available
