Galaxy S5: Release Dates & Order/Shipping Discussion

DAMN.

so I just got off the phone with what seemed to be a pretty knowledgeable Verizon rep, and she pretty much confirmed that these orders are NOT shipping UNTIL the 11th. She said their warehouse that sends everything out will be receiving the shipment of S5's on the evening of Thursday the 10th, and then they'll begin working to ship them out early Friday morning. She said that even though it chose 2 day automatically, she said there's a chance I could receive it on Saturday (but i'm not holding my breath..)

After I told her numerous people with T-Mobile and ATT were having their orders shipped already so they'd receive them on the release day of the 11th, she claimed that Verizon can't break the "street date" of the phone, but Samsung has different release dates for the other carriers..to which I informed her she was incorrect in that it's a carrier-wide release of the 11th, and that's when she claimed Verizon won't even receive shipment until a day before the 11th.

oh well..there goes my hopes of getting it on release day lol

Why is this a big surprise? This is exactly how it was advertised. You pre order and get it next Tuesday or Wednesday. You walk into Verizon on Friday and have it for the weekend. Why is this a surprise?

It's a surprise because about 7 different reps informed me that it would ship out 2 days PRIOR to the 11th so that you'd have it on release day, which appears to have been misinformation, yet again.

but you're right, it's not really a surprise that yet again, ATT and T-Mo are doing more to keep their customers happy by getting it to them ON release date than Verizon is lol

You spoke with 7 different Verizon reps and they all told you that your phone was going to be shipped on the 9th ......from verizon? Sorry but I just gotta call bs here. The site has never changed. Go into the store on Friday and pick one up then send yours back next week.

Has anyone, who has pre-ordered with Best Buy in the past, received their devices on release day?

I always have, but I always pre-ordered early

I know plenty of folks who pre-ordered late and had to wait at best buy

I ordered my black S5 in an AT&T store on 4/3 to be delivered to my house. Shipped with delivery on 4/9.

So far, it looks like the only certain recipients are AT&T's customers. Sigh, I pre-ordered through TMo.

Well I just got done chatting with a VZW rep. I was told it will ship on the 11th, but should arrive by the 13th. Which is a Sunday. Who knows.

Some AT&T customers are seeing good news... otoh, ordered my black S5 on AT&T's site 3/21, been a customer for 5 years, so far nothing but "Preparing to Ship"... ah well, if it ships tomorrow, could have it by Wednesday I hope!

My brother's black S5 has yet to ship. My white S5 has shipped. According to the ATT order page, it will ship either on 4-8 or 4-9.

My black S5 that was preordered on 3/27 has shipped but says it won't be delivered until 4/11. My wife's black S5 preordered on 4/2 is still showing as preparing to ship. I will be truly disappointed if hers gets here before mine.

Best of luck, but there's a very good chance it will sit at a facility until Friday morning (or Thursday night). It happens all the time with Cingular...looks like it will arrive early, and then stalls on the way. Still, I hope you get it!

I hear what you're saying. Let's hope not so far here's the status as of an hour ago when I checked.
