Galaxy S6 - Phone Lag

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

I changed my animations to 0.5x the other day and while it does help I also get lag when scrolling down facebook/instagram/twitter.

That's not a phone problem, that's an app/developer problem. Those apps have to use your data connection to update the content you see. It's not pre loaded. That's why the scrolling seems "laggy".

And the first person to say "well the iPhone doesn't do that" i will call you a liar. I have both an iterd 5s and 6 and they both do it too.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

I'm done with the s6 as soon as the iPhone is released. Can't deal with the lag anymore.

Call me a liar then but my iPhone 6 runs facebook/instagram/twitter much smoother than my S6 does.

It also depends on your data connection and how much content it has to load. See my OP. But they still scroll "laggy". Period.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

I've got to say my VZW S6 got the 5.1.1 update this week and the lag has been reduced for sure. That probably comes from the 5.1.1 fixes in Lollipop base code (on Google's end). RAM management on the S6 is still way too aggressive.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

The only site I get laggy scrolling on is this one. No idea why, loads slowest of all sites also. No lag otherwise any where else. But even my macbook lags on AC

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

Had some bad lag today, mainly while texting using hangouts.. Gone back to the stock messages app and seems better. Overall disappointed that my new phone lags more than my old one.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

Again, this is nothing new. Just go back and check every Samsung Galaxy S (3,4,5) thread. Heck, even the note threads, and u will see the lag threads are long and present. I'm still amazed how some are shocked by this topic.

This is my 3 step process for killing lag.

1. Install the app CCleaner (it clears the cache and browsing history of all apps in 30sec)

2. Close all apps in multitask view

3. Close all tabs in chrome.

Try these steps and let me know if it worked.

Also, make sure power saver is 'off'

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

I have zero app cleaners or task killers installed/running and I have no lag at all. I still don't get the complaints, if you prefer iOS just get an iPhone...that's what you get for going with a optimized hardware and software device.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

I get lag, stutter and janky performance from time to time on my S6.

For the most part it's not too bad, but when you see things stutter or things take extra long to load or you press the home button and see the home screen has to reload all the app icons and widgets.... It's kind of disconcerting knowing you have a top of the line Android phone and are still getting the same issues I had 3 or 4 years ago.

OP I don't think you're going to find an android phone that is as fast and consistent as the iPhone, primarily because Apple control the hardware and software, whereas Android OEM's add the software with their own tweaks to the hardware.

So what you my give up on speed/fluidity, it makes up for in flexibility and variety in handset designs, features and prices.

Hope you find a phone that suits your needs, OP.

Same here.

As someone else aptly noted on the previous page, the concept of "lag" people have can be quite subjective depending on their expectations and level of experience.

Some people encounter strange conflicts or software problems, others get defective hardware, and I'm sure that's frustrating. However, user actions (or user error) can certainly hamper performance, whether it's going nuts with widgets and live wallpapers, or using poorly developed apps that hog resources. I think manufacturers unfairly take a lot of heat from people who're essentially misusing their phones and may not be informed enough to realize it.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

As much as I love the customization of Android and the S6, the lag is bad, the delay as well....I have a friend who has the S6, and be agrees. He said the default keyboard lags like no other and is delayed. I had to download the Google Keyboard for that reason and use that. Now for those who own or have owned the Note 4, does the default keyboard lag or phone lag at all? Deciding rather to get the Note 5, or go back to the iPhone, which I will just wait until next month, because that is when the new iPhone comes out. I came from an iPhone 6 Plus, with zero lag and delay, smooth and fast, but wanted to try something different

LAG??
I have the s6 edge and it is the fastest phone I have ever used or seen being used! Idk if this is because of the difference between the s6 and s6 edge but I haven't had any lag at all.

If you are experiencing lag check to see that you don't have a fake s6...

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

It's possible your device has issues and that does happen, these are mass produced electronic devices. Each user perceives lag in different ways and what the OP sees as lag may not be to others.

That said have you tried a factory reset after the last update or did you update fresh, even with Apple devices I find its better to wipe, update, then add your apps back. Already reports about 8.4.1 and battery drain, etc. So every Apple update brings its own issues and for that they can only blame themselves.

Interesting. I have zero lag. My S6 is by far the fastest phone I've ever used or seen. Blows my wife's iPhone 6 and my Note 3 and Nexus 7 out of the water, not even close.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

No third party apps, except the Google Keyboard, I am using Nova Launcher, and the stock keyboard lags like crazy, and I am not the only one in this thread who has mentioned it. Not running any anti-vrius or the others you have mentioned

Ok I don't use the stock keyboard, I agree it is garbage. I use Swype. I also don't use the stock texting app, I wanted to like it, but it's not very good. I use either Textra or Hangouts, both of which are better than stock.

Re: Can't handle the lag anymore

Zero lag here as well. But I don't use very many of the stock apps either, wondering if that makes some difference. My S6 is easily as fast or faster than my iPhone 6 plus which is just flat-out boring to use.
