Ok so I keep reading comments about people saying some are hiding things. And using battery saver mode. And lower resolution. And not using apps like YouTube. Blah blah.
No one is hiding anything. Why the hell would anyone do that? It's getting silly. I honestly could care less about those people at this point. I will however state my settings and usage one last time. Maybe it will help ones that are struggling to get battery life. Idk. Personally I feel bad and I think something is wrong with their phone.
When I got the phone I let if drain down to 0. And charged to 100. Did that about 3 times. I then charged from 40% as much as possible. I use no saver apps or managers. Only thing I use is CCleaner to clean my phone up every few days. That's it
I'm running NOVA launcher. One widget on my screen. And a black Samsung theme in the background. I'm also using live wallpaper for my lock screen. Regular for my home screen.
I have auto brightness on at all times. Sync on at all times. App notifications on at all times. Location off. I am on Verizon 4glte, 3-4 bars throughout the day in the bright sun. At home I'm on WiFi and 4glte on different lighting conditions.
I don't make a lot of calls. I'm constantly on YouTube, Chrome, tap to talk, and amazon, eBay, etc. Keep multiple chrome tabs open wgejike/while I'm online and keep it open in the background when in YouTube. And vice versa. Facebook use is very minimal. I use messenger though.
My phone is set to the highest resolution. It's also set to high performance mode which drains the most battery. I stream all my YouTube in the highest resolution available. Like I said I'm constantly watching YouTube and browsing Chrome. Usually 2 hours at a time.
I'm getting around 9.45-10 hours OST and 20+ hours usage with WiFi. I'm getting about 8.5-9 with WiFi and 4glte mixed in. And I'm getting around 7.5 with just 4glte with 3-4 bars, outside all day. That is a fact. Doubt all you want. I'm not doing anything crazy to get life, and not some fan boy.
Anyway I've repeatedly shown stats and I'll show them again now. IMO id you're only getting 4-4.5 OST with an s8+, return it because something has to be wrong. This is the best battery performance I've ever had. I wish everyone luck with their battery life. Take care.

i'm open minded + curious about battery life stats also ,i've used iphones before and i do agree the hardware was something but imo it dosen't compete with the s8 and the taptic engine to me feels too much like a gimmick (just like edge features on the s8 which i barely use) Overall though apple is more for people who have multiple apple products already,their ecosystem hasen't been touched by anyone yet that i know of,me ? I just prefer android in general.
