Galaxy S8 / S8 + Battery Life Thread

It's true. There is no phone even close to the iPhone in Standy battery drain. The iPhone, especially the 7, just sips power when not in use. So impressive.

That said, my S8+ is the best Android yet in Standby mode and I that while it's still not in the iPhone's league for Standby, it definitely sips power pretty carefully if you're on WiFi or in a solid cell coverage area, maybe just a percent or two per hour which isn't bad for Android. In a bad cell area like you clearly have, all bets are off.
Yeah, but I use my phone. IPhone 7 drains like crazy. I charge it a couple times a night at work.

Well my battery has improved all of a sudden! Might be able to reach 7 hrs finally... All did was change my theme

I'm one of those that gets seven or seven and a half hours, but keep in mind, I keep location turned off except when I am using an app that requires it. And of course brightness is turned down to about 60 or 65%.
My location is always off but that's it. Sync always on. Auto brightness. A lot of 4glte use and WiFi are my only ones screen time which usually drains more then something offline honestly. And I'm getting 9 hours OST. My s7 edge was a beast battery wise too when I got the software update for some reason. A beast. But not quite as good as this

Got my s8 3 days ago now and battery life is almost as good as my rooted oneplus 3t. I havent rooted this phone or anything.

Unplugged at 10am and I've had 6hours (about) of hotspot usage plus 2 hours of screen on time with everything in plus I'm listening to music for the last 30 min. Dark theme on everything but my keyboard but not AMOLED dark
Edit I'm at 43%

Got crap today for battery. The other day it was awesome. Today by 2pm I was down to 29 %. I don't know why.

Android system was really high compared to the other day.

I just got my s8+ in the morning and immediately charged it to 100%, 7.5 hours later and half of that time installing all my apps and setting everything from scratch, I'm at 50% with 4.25 of SoT. Pretty impressed so far with battery and the buttery smooth performance in general, that and this Orchid Grey being so gorgeous.

Basically everything on, AOD, Location History, QHD, only Uninstalled what is bloatware for me (not many BTW on t-mobile). I'm really wowed by Samsung right now.

Which phone are you coming from? Cuz S8 is far from buttery smooth man. It's fast but not smooth. Maybe you coming from slow phone so you feel that way.

Let me see, let me put this in descending order for just the past 9 months:

iPhone 7 Plus 256GB Jet black
Google Pixel XL
Google Pixel
IPhone 7 Plus 128GB Matte Black
Axon 7
HTC 10
Galaxy S7 edge

But let me tell what I always do when I get a new phone, just boot it up, skip everything on the initial setup, check if there is any update available and then go to Recovery menu and Wipe Cache Partition and delete all data via Factory reset, and yes, it has been buttery smooth.

Not bad.... At work for 11 hours and I get terrible reception at the office. Probably would have gotten to 18 hours total and 3-3.25 hours of screen time.

Ran hot spot and navigation for about an hour each today.

Here are my stats. Signal is very poor at my work place.
Pretty decent numbers.
S8 on T-Mobile.

So I've had my first real world test back at work. Using it the same as I usually use my phone. Couple hours before 12 hour shift is over and I'm sitting at 35%. 4 hours 21 minutes SOT.

Usually would have had to throw my iPhone 7 on the charger halfway through the shift for a couple hours, sometimes twice.
