Galaxy tab pro 8.4 Lollipop eta Q3 2015

Looks like we'll have to give cyanogen a go then,I'm told there's a marshmallow build in progress at the moment,is that the case ?

Got tired of waiting for "SamSlow" and installed CM12.1 Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Nightly custom ROM on my Tab Pro 8.4, amazed at the difference in performance/customization over the stock rom which computes to one happy camper, well sort of...

In saying the above, this is my 2nd Samsung tablet in a row that failed to see an update from what they were running out-of-the-box, considering the Tab Pro was touted as a high end device at the time this is pretty shameful, I vow to NEVER buy another Samy device if it can be helped and one of the reasons I chose to totally ignore their smartphone offerings on my recent purchase, went with an LG G4... "You ain't gonna support me so I won't support you", did it w/BB in 2012 and never looked back, if this trend continues though we may back ourselves into a corner and end up with an iSomething LOL.

Elky,do all your apps still work properly ?
Are there any negatives ? What about battery life ?

Hey Daz2014,

Running same apps as I did on KitKat 4.4.2 and haven't encountered any "new" issues, had the odd ones that were slightly flaky before (occasional crash) and they still do on Lollipop 5.1, obviously it's the apps themselves, other than that everything is definitely smoother especially with “TouchWiz” no longer present.

The negatives, having to go through the rooting process to get an update. Got to admit I am not that fluent nor comfortable digging deeply into the Android OS and it becomes somewhat of a daunting task, we’re more into the Windows eco system, knowing that you can “brick” your device in an instance isn’t too comforting. Oh yeah, there is a notification displayed in the top left corner of the screen upon boot-up that informs you that your KNOX device is rooted, has no bearing on its daily operation though nor are you alerted again after it is up and running.

Can’t say I’ve noticed one iota of difference in battery life, was above average before (7.5-8.5) and remained about the same w/Lollipop.
