I don't know why you would buy a newer watch if your old S3 works nicely ?. I don't plan to change my Samsung Gear S3 Frontier for the next 10 years, because it works fine, it performs all my tasks and functions nicely.

I thought about it for all of 5 minutes, then decided that I'm not upgrading until they make the S3 Frontier obsolete.

Here's hoping your S3 does make it 10yrs. However, there are a few of us out here with charging/battery problems. My S3 Frontier is a wonderful device, but it will not charge. I've tried everything short of a factory reset, not sure that will do anything. It was my intention to keep it till the proverbial wheels fell off. Now, I'm not sure if the Watch 3 price will be much more than cost to have Samsung fix my Frontier. Good luck with yours.

although my watch is almost 5 years old, it still works great, the battery lasts for 2 days, and if it happens that the battery really weakens, I will replace it myself, buying it on e-bay. By the way .... I'm not a fan of buying new and only new, and my car is 24 years old, so it serves me well ......;)

did you try replacing the battery. anyway, like anything, there will always be lemons in the bunch. after replacing the battery in my five year old watch, it is like new again ;-)

I just did that with a Moto 360 Gen II. It's a museum piece at 57 months old yet It's more functional now than in its heyday. Also replaced the screen. I had left
it, forgotten, on its charger when I bought an S3 Frontier in June of '17. That destroyed(?) the screen. The Gen II would only display half of a screen of digital gibberish. Bringing it back from the scrap pile was satisfying.

No, I haven't tried the battery yet. Any special tools needed? If that solved your problem, then I'll give it a try. Any words of wisdom about the replacement procedure?

any tools needed will come with the battery. the only wisdom is to go to youtube and watch videos on changing the battery for your watch model. battery will be model specific.

What I like about the GW3 is that they immediately put a leather strap in the box, and the charger, the charger in the Gear S3 is too bulky
