Android Central Question

My S9+ on VZW has started having gallery issues over the weekend. The create collage and GIF functions hang constantly and inly solved by restarting the phone. I have not downloaded any apps recently other than a VZW sys update on June 14.

I chatted online with Samsung support yesterday and they were not helpful AT ALL. They suggested clearing data and cache from the Gallery and Camera Apps and doing a restart, something I had already done multiple times before contacting them. They then suggested restarting in Safe Mode, something else I had already tried. Last suggestion was doing a factory reset or perhaps I might want to think about UPGRADING my phone!
No offer that they would check internally to see if there were any known issues or internal Samsung issues.

Anyone else experiening problems?

That's one of the reasons, although I've owned many Samsung phones over the years (and I go back to old analog phones with no storage and no cameras), no more. I don't know what the holiday was, but they gave up customer service for it. Google? You have a problem, they send you a phone (refurb if it's been more than a couple of weeks on the bad one, but still a working phone). It's almost like they have a contest to see who can give away the most phones.

And the attitude. I've had long, very nice chats with their customer service reps. Not about phones, about me, about them, about the Philippines (which is where CS is), about all sorts of things (while we waited for a decision from a higher level). Even the developer I ended up working with over one problem was a nice guy to chat with (and I was a developer for nearly 50 years, and had developers work under me, so I can tell when a developer has something else on his mind, or is annoyed).

Unless the quality of Pixels (or whatever name they choose next) goes down the tubes, I'll stay with Google. I like good customer service (since I've run CS departments a couple of times - and Google's makes me envious, I never ran one as well as they do).
 
Yes. I forgot to mention I have wiped the cache partition as well. Nothing worked which is why I am reluctant to spend the time to do a factory reset.

I have a very strong feeling the issue is an internal Samsung app problem.
 
Is it possible to find the most current Samsung Gallery apk and download it over the existing one? Since tge Gallery is a system app I don't think it can be deleted.

Go to gallery app, 3 Dots upper right corner tap it and go to settings >scroll all the way down to about see any updates and version your on , also in there make sure you have your Samsung account sync.
