Android Central Question

Games play is terrible on my S9. I had a sony xperia xz premium and the game play was great! Extremely smooth. So beautiful. My S9 the game play stutters, lags, is choppy and is fast. Not nearly as smooth and beautiful as my previous phone.

Anyone else having these problems and does anyone know of a fix?

I always had problems with Samsung phones. It's hard to resist not buying them because of the specs and what they offer, but they never perform to how they should. I swear my old android from 3 years ago performs better.

Welcome to Android Central! Any power-saving modes turned on?

I'm the guy who asked the question. No power saving modes are on. One of my friends who had an S8 said it was great, but now has a Note 9 and says it's terrible. Another guy said his s9+ is the same. Bad.

I play games heavily on my s9+ and have zero lag issues. I play fortnite, pubg, Boxing star, and tons more that are heavy duty games and they all perform better than my Note 8.

I tried messing with game launcher, performance and everything else. Nothing improves it. The main problem is the animation. It's not smooth. It's choppy. It skips frames.

People who came from a non-samsung to samsung might relate better.

You sure it's not your internet connection? Mine plays pubg on highest settings with hardly a dropped frame and every other game flawlessly.

Internet is fine. Wiping cache didn't help. I still have my old phone. The games I play on the S9 aren't bad. They appear almost normal, but when I compare it to my old phone, my old phone is much, much better.

The S9 is choppy. The animation skips frames and is too fast. If I didn't have my Sony phone to compare I would think the game play on the S9 is normal.

I'm pretty sure it's Samsung. They have always under performed.

Do you ever do a device maintenance?

I forgot. Game Tuner by default throttles the CPU/GPU in games to a more standard rate to help with heating issues. This does extend the longevity of the phone but may end up with performance issues. You can go into Game Tuner and increase performance on a per game basis.
For example, Into the Dead 2 by default is on a -1 performance level, which you can increase to +3 in Game Tuner after going through heating warnings.

Holy. I have a note 9 too and pubg is not smooth on it and no one seems to have this same problem as me.

Go into Settings > System > About Phone - tap Build number 7 times. Back once. Advanced > Developer Options. Acroll down to Drawing > Animation Scale (there are 3 of them). Set them all to off.

See if that helps.

I tried that before, didn't help. Tried almost everything available including gfx tools. I just think the phone can't handle intensive gaming for long periods of time. Because the first hour would be fine but after that things get worst.
