gaps still present in current batches

Dude, you made them open up all the boxes? I would have told you to hit the bricks. What a PITA!

We opened every single One in stock at the store I went to and every single one them had a gap. Google it, my experience is not unique.

My time is valuable and I simply sharing my experience. Take it for what it is, there are some flawless HTC One phones out there and some that are very flawed. Do not deny it, it is fact.

Apologies for an offensive title to my original post.

Never said your experience was unique. I know for a fact that some ONES have a gap. My first ONE was the silver model and it had a small un-noticeable gap. My black ONE is perfect and quite happy with it. I can't say that about the S4. BUT since I gave it to my daughter...you know...the "in" thing, I have not been in the S4 forums and said one word. And to be honest, my daughter likes my ONE better and now she begs me for it. To each his own.

I would really hate to be the one to go with you when you're looking to buy a new car....

Actually, I was very polite and stated to the salesman after opening the first phone that I did not expect them to open anymore.

It was the salesman who put forth the effort and initiative to open more. Don't be so insensitive and quick to judge.

LOL! To be honest, I would have put the phone up after a couple and took a break leaving the customer there to wonder where the heck I went.

You did state in the OP that SHE offered to open more. She was trying to help. But if that were reversed, I would have slipped out the back and took a break.

I understand your plight. We are NOT trying to be insensitive, but this should have been posted in an "S4 is better than the ONE" forum in the Samsung section.

Like buying a Chevy truck, then going into a Ford forum complaining about how you hated the "gap" between the bed and cab so you didn't buy one. Just insane....

As I have stated, to each their own. When I spend my money, I expect to get what is advertised. Simple as that, some are ok with settling....I am not.

If you read the whole post you would have read that I have a S4, Nexus 4, Note 2 and Lumia 920.

I am NOT an S4 owner here to bash the One.

Thank you.

But you don't OWN the ONE.

What was advertised? Zero gap was in relation to the plastic and aluminum backing. As I said you have nothing to go on besides personal preference.

This was not a matter of advertisements, tolerance issues, flaws, nor "premium devices.
Just admit it, your expectation of the phone did not meet reality.

With all due respect this forum is not only for owners of the HTC One. It is a public forum and I am free to post my experience.

I only hope those looking to purchase the one come here, see this and look to ensure the phone they are buying does not have any gaps.

I am done replying in this thread defending myself for what I have posted. This is getting a little immature and ridiculous.

"Nuff said"

Probably the best thing you can do. Pointless thread and should have been locked long ago.

Just because he pointed out a flaw thread should be locked? I see no wrong with someone posting their expierence and trying to help anyone buying such a high-end phone. Don't mind the gap? Great, keep having the best expierence with your phone and move along. If you didn't mind the gap you wouldn't be starting arguments. Honestly it is impossible to have a civil discussion in these forums. You think you would get better answers from HTC users that LOVE to point out other companies "fanboys". This shows you are no different.

The OP started this fledgling thread to express his experience that had nowhere to go but to start some type of argument. He wasn't asking questions that required answers. Besides there are many threads already about this issue. If he had a real concern...for a phone he doesn't own, then he should have searched for those threads and posted there. But starting a new thread such as this had only one recourse...a war. But honestly, if the "gap" bothered him that much then he should have purchased another phone and moved along. Personally, I really don't care what phone anyone likes/dislikes. But I do dislike people who start flame/thread wars where/when they shouldn't be started in the first place.

Not to harp on about this great phone, I too have had quility control issues. My gaps appear to be OK but not the cut out around the power button. It's plain awful.. I decided to "Wrap" my HTC in a Carbon cover so much of the body is now covered!

And another s4 user that came to the op defense.
Listen people have explained over and over why this thread bothered some of us. Yes its a public forum and we all should have freedom of speech but when you don't own a particular device and you aren't asking opinions, or for help and only reason is to bash the one for build quality then those of us that have perfect ones will call you out on it. Where are the pics?
Name calling "fanboys" isn't called for. My wife owns a s4. It's a fine device in its own. This has nothing to do with being a fan boy.
If there are serious questions about build quality then we all want to try to listen and help. My phone has a small gap at the top of it also but it's very small. Please don't come here just trying to stir up the fire by thrashing build quality.

Out of the eleven or so ones I've seen in person only one had a gap issue. Mine is flush as could be. So there are quality built ones out there. Just make sure if you are going to buy one check it over so you are satisfied. The first unit they pulled out for me at Costco was the perfect.

No, please don't misunderstand. He had a "right" to initially post. But it just kept cycling forever, going back and forth with nothing accomplished.

My only responses were to defend myself in a mature manner when others were being immature in accusing me of trolling and of the like.

Wishing everyone well.

Funny, the OP hasn't flamed anyone, nor has he participated in this "war" you speak of. I can pinpoint each and every person who was provoking this and let me give you a hint, it's the exact ones who are trying to justify their actions, not the OP. The OP has done nothing but respond civilly and try to deter this "flaming" that you claim he should have "expected" when he posted this thread. Let me tell you now, no user should ever have to expect to be flamed for posting a genuine issue and experience, regardless of what phone he is currently using. While some of you seem to feel like it is a common practice or protocol, android central forums DOES NOT promote the treating of it's members in this manner. Not once did he say anything negative about the phone (internals, sense, build materials) nor did he boast a competing phone. He commented on a defect that he found on the device he wanted to buy, and every phone in the line up. Fortunately, it isn't at public discretion as to of what threads are considered trolling or not, and regardless of how you perceive a thread, it is no excuse to treat a fellow member how many of you have, here. I am not going to close this thread, however, I will be keeping a close eye on many of the posts, now. Any further flaming, trolling, or disrespect by any party will be handled accordingly. If you have an issue with something a user posts, report the post so the mod team can evaluate it, or move on. Attacking/insulting someone, as well as calling someone a troll, is not conducive to the discussion, and is grounds for infraction.
