GBoard on the Pixel 2 XL?

ok...well this is strange. I went in to preferences and under "show emoji switch key" it was on (blue showing), however on the keyboard, it doesn't show.

when I turned the toggle off, it showed the smiley. seems my toggle is backwards.

Sorry. Misposted.

But for the record I find Gboard difficult to use because of the layout. Due to the nature of the things I text, I need the '/' key easily accessible with a long press. In my language choice, the only way I can get that is if I have the Ñ character on the keyboard separate from the N because that's where the / on long press is tied to. But that severely screws up the layout moving keys out of usual spacing, making me hit the wrong letters more often due to muscle memory of where keys are supppsed to be relative to each other.

Actually, what I meant was that that function does not impact the visibility of the emoji button - because I was quite sure that I tested it before and it had no effect.

However, I see now that I was wrong. Enabling "Show emoji switch key" does, indeed, make the unwanted blue emoji button disappear - well, actually it changes the button from blue to grey and moves it to the left side of the spacebar.

I thought he was attempting to make a point of what if any impact it had on the emoji buttons. I realize now it was not.

Ah that is why I probably don't see it. I keep that key on so it has its own button.

When enabling "Show emoji switch key" this is what I get but when I type I'll hit that thing a million times an there they are, emojis. LOL
