GfE won't run in background

Recently switched to Galaxy S7 Edge and Good won't run in the background. So-- no meeting reminders, email notifications, etc. It will only Send/Receive when I open the app or when I select Send/Receive Now. Persistent Mode is enabled, so background running should be optimized. What am I overlooking?
