Gingerbread NOW available

I havent even tried it yet. This thread blew up so fast, I lost track of where all the links are, lol. SO to be sure, the root version is out so I can just flash it on?

Yep, I tried flashing without wiping data and cache from Liberty. Had to go back and wipe them.

If you have the sync icon in your bar you need to boot recovery and wipe cache and data.

Is anyone else finding LPP to be completely unstable? It slows down to the point of freezing, reboots and then comes back up to a LPP force close. I am not a fan of the other options and would really like to get Launcher to work but haven't seen anyone having any type of similar issues. Other than that everything seems to be great, unfortunately an unstable launcher is more than mildly annoying.

Just making sure but have you installed the latest version of LPP? It just came out the day before to make it compatible with GB and has a sleeping of bug fixes.

Ok this is weird is anyone noticing the backlights behind the hard keys are way brighter? I mean seriously they are bright!!! There was just one little light leak behind my keys now I they all have leaks LOL.

Is this happening for anyone else?

Also just wanted to add I experience no increase in quadrant scores :(

I've also noticed that the button lights are brighter, the notification LED also blinks pure white for me at times. Seems like a small bug but it doesn't bother me too much. Also you should let the phone boot up and idle for a bit before benchmarking so all apps are loaded and not sucking up resources. I score in the mid-high 1700's and with set cpu on performance over 1800. These numbers are stupid impressive to me for it running stock with no OC.

Is anybody having problems opening up contacts in your phonebook? I cannot open people up or add new contacts. When I select someone or just closes.

Did you try a data wipe? If so try to do a few wipes in a row, 3 - 4 times should be good. That's the only thing that I can recommend.

If you are coming from stock 2.3.340 then you can simply root and flash through CWM, if you are running rooted with a custom tom then a data wipe is required for it to take without bootloops.

IMHO I would have z4 root and boostrap apk's on my SD card then just SBF for good measure, after the SBF I would turn on the phone but Don't bother activating the phone or or adding email, skip all the steps then install z4 & bootstrap, boot into recovery and flash like any other rom. This will assure the cleanest install possible so bugs, syncing or bootloops are avoided.

P. S. Once on Prerooted GB use D2 bootstrapper as appearantly DX bootstrap does not work, a free D2 BS download is available in the MDW forums OP P3 made, goodluck!

As for me over been running smoothly with no problems except one which is more of a nuisance than a problem. Has anyone else experienced false notification alerts? Every now and then ill get a notification alert but no actual email or text.

About the sync icon.....I can't get my phone back into recovery to wipe the cache and data. On the x its home +power right? My motor logo comes on then it shows the open box icon for a quick second then right to the triangle !.but when I push the search button nothing happenes

Wow! Wasn't expecting much with this but it is much snappier and a better interface.

thanks TBH

Search no longer works on Gingerbread, once you're at the triangle press both volume up an down at the same time to take you to the menu.

Also the camera button no longer works to select, you now press the power button to select.

Run bootstrap for the droid2. If your going to flash other stuff its needed anyway.

This is amazing. Did a clean wipe, installed rooted gb along with a shiny moto bh6x battery and not only does the phone absolutely cook; I have barely managed to dent the battery indicator on a full day of beating the crap out of it getting everything just right. And all this on the battery's first charge ever! I love you guys!

I've tried flashing back to Liberty with Bootstrapper D2 and no dice. Wiped data and cache before I tried.

Ok I cleared cache and started like it was a brand new phone but its still buggy upon first booting up and wifi tether(any of them) is completey useless. Any help still? Im stumped

I backed up and then wiped data/cache and flashed the rootgbx.zip(whatever its called) with cmrecovery and its boot looping.

2. Put phone into bootstrap recovery

3. Install the file you downloaded above

4. Sit back and watch (Your phone will bootloop for approx 30 secs, if any longer than that, pull battery and restart your phone.

You should now have gingerbread and it should be rooted.

5. You have to use D2 Bootstrap on Gingerbread, DX bootstrap won't work.Get it here Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap v1.0.0.3.apk You might get DX bootstrap to work if USB Debugging is off

6. If you're having Sync Issues After flash you need to Go back and do a Factory Reset in Stock Recovery. It helps if you do it multiple times. I usually do it 3 or 4 at a minimum.

7. IF YOU FOLLOW P3Droid ON TWITTER YOU ALREADY SAW THAT IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ROOT THEN YOU SHOULD NOT EXCEPT THE OTA. TO HELP THAT NOT HAPPEN RENAME UPGRADE.APK TO UPGRADE.BAK IN /SYSTEM/APP

8. Apps missing from your market? Here's an easy fix compliments of JRummy. Get it here.

It will be laggy until all apps, contacts, backed up Google stuff syncs. Once that's all done the phone will settle out and open bandwidth for tethering.

And how are you tethering? Try the stock 3g hotspots app. Its broke and tethers for free. And works.

Thank you for all those instructions. It did boot loop for more than 30 seconds, so I battery pulled and hit power annd nothing. So im still sitting here trying to boot into recovery and nothing is happening. Hold Home and press power annd so forth produces nothing. Neither does just tryinng to power on, plugged in and not

This is what I did on a z4root'ed stock 2.2 and have had no issues.

-installed D2 bootstrap
-rebooted, entered recovery mode and wiped data/cache multiple times
-reboot back and skip all the setup crap
-launched D2 bootstrap and selected both options (reboot one last)
-phone rebooted in D2 bootstrap and I upgraded from pre-rooted zip file, re-wiped twice once it said it was done and rebooted
-phone booted into GB and I used the market fix to get all apps back
-shut down phone, pulled battery, held power key down for a few seconds
-reassembled and booted in to a flawless GB install and started installing all my crap back on

I hope this help you guys out. I barely knew what I was doing but it worked out well.

Edit- Going over my market apps it does seem that I am missing a few still even after the fix. For example I definitely picked up Need for speed a while ago but when I look it up my only option is to repurchase it. I wonder what else is missing

I downloaded the file from TBH app and the same thing happened to me, I restored to a back-up then tried it again with a different zip file other than the one TBH provided in their app and it took. In short your file could be broken, try another one from their website.

Yea, I was thinking that. Just have to boot into recovery. Ive had a hell of a time trying to get into recovery. Just to refresh:

Hold Home and Power til the "M", release power, still holding Home til the exclamation appears, release home and press Search should go right into recovery. I feel I am doing these steps properly but now it wont go past the exclamation. I sure am getting my battery pull workout.

Gingerbread recovery is a little different.

Hold Both power and home buttons to turn on phone.

Release once you see the android Guy and an exclamation point.

•*Then hold Both volume buttons down to enter recovery*•. This last step will get you past exclamation. Threw me for a loop too.

Then wipe data from stock recovery and reboot. That stopped me from bootlooping after initial gingerbread install.
