Gingerbread NOW available

Gingerbread recovery is a little different.

Hold Both power and home buttons to turn on phone.

Release once you see the android Guy and an exclamation point.

Then hold Both volume buttons down to enter recovery. This last step will get you past exclamation. Threw me for a loop too.

Then wipe data from stock recovery and reboot. That stopped me from bootlooping after initial gingerbread install.

You are thy savior NewAge ty, I got into recovery. So I went ahead and chose the gbrootedzip again and now it aborts install due to a file signature issue. Reboot from recovery jsut puts me in the same boot loop. So close. So maybe I do have a bad file but hard to believe since I got it from this thread(one of the earlier pages). Im going to wipe/reset one more time and if it still doesnt work I will look around for another .zip

I don't think stock recovery can install anything other than update.zip. just wipe data factory reset from stock recovery and reboot.

Clockwork mod is where you want to install Gingerbread.zip, hopefully you did that with D2 bootstraper before all this.

Success! Working GB on my X. It took a wipe data/factory reset one more time. Wow it looks kinda nice. Just gota make sure I still have root. Ty crowd

I am trying to catch up but the thread is moving so fast so I wanted to ask...Is this going to be released by carriers soon?

Very not impressed, honestly. Slow, buggy, froze on my device even after wipe, etc. SBF'd back to OTA and tried out rubiX, which I am VERY impressed with.

I like the way this looks I gota say. All my apps and LPP restored properly. Some minor changes visually which I will work on thru the day at work. I see I have lost some apps but thats no biggie. I like that pinwheel looking loading icon when things are thinking. Maybe I will stick with this for a bit instead of going back to Liberty.

I have been amazed at the smoothness of scrolling in the appdrawer and through the browser. The homescreens lag slightly with alot of widgets but the home launcher has a solid feel. Very impressed here. It seemed my wifi profile didn't transfer properly and I had to redo my network connections and reboot router to get everything downloaded which takes a long time after a wipe. Apps, contacts, old mail sync, all takes a long time and causes sever slowness.

Overclocked to 1.2 with LPP is very smooth. Complex LWP cause slight lag

I lost a few apps too. I figure those are apps that aren't updated yet to work with gingerbread. The apps I did lose don't even show up in the market place now. Fortunately, they weren't anything important, or apps that I can't live without.

Quick question: Can anybody access Recovery mode? you know to clean the cache and battery stats?

I used to with Froyo by holding power and home keys and then the search button once the little guy appeared; but now when I am in that screen with the little guy the search key does nothing.

I am trying to do this:
Lifehacker, tips and downloads for getting things done

And also I am trying to do my monthly clean the cache thing.

Anybody else has this problem?

You are in the minority on this. Love GB, very fast and responsive, a few little bugs, but to be expected with a leaked version.

Read just a couple posts up. Entering GB recovery is slightly diefferent. Post #201 in the quoted part.

Well after my install went smooth as silk the misses not so much. Had the weirdest thing happen after I got stuck on the M logo (old white one). SBF'd, finally got GB installed, but all the Blur stuff is GONE! No toggles for wifi, BT, GPS, Airplane. No gallery, etc etc. Just a few app shortcuts on some of the home screens (all google ones IIRC). I'm sure a factory reset will fix it all, I just didn't have time to do that yet.

I am willing to bet 99.99 percent of people having these issues had a dirty install. Wipe before, and factory reset through stock twice after at least and using appropriate files. This GB flys?

i wiped before installing BG, wiped cache partition, davlik cache, batt stats, all a few times each. but once i installed GB i didnt do a factory reset. so after the setup process you did a factory reset or you just skipped the setup and reset?

I want GB on my X but i have no clue what or how? I can follow directions if someone could tell me how to get it.? Feel free to email me instructions at moongrlxx @aol.com. thanks im so excited to get it!!!!!
