Gingerbread on the Droid X, whats new

Ugh. Amazon MP3 no longer works in this build. It was working with the last build. The Cloud Player part of that app is awesome.

I had never used the Amazon MP3 app before - clearly I was missing out on this cloud drive thing (AWESOME!) - but I just signed in to amazon via my laptop, saved a free song to the cloud drive (Wishing on A Star by Beonce - ya, man..lol) and it's playing right now on my DX.

Maybe you can uninstall/reinsall to fix your issue?

The stupid thing is that Amazon MP3 is actually bloatware, so I can't try that trick. Another reason why it sucks that we can't delete the bloatware!

The Amazon Cloud Drive / Cloud Player is AWESOME. I use it every day now as I drive to and from work.

I just got an update for it when I opened it up for the first time so you can at least uninstall the update and reinstall the update for sure.

Yeah, the update is terrible. I tried to start the app, and it began to open, but then it did nothing but force close. It kept giving me the force close pop up over and over and over again, even after I clicked force close.

Don't feel bad, they just released their cloud player last week (maybe the week before) but yes it is suhweet! also, amazon mp3 app is working for me including the cloudplayer

lovin it but a few glitches

So 24 hours into it, with a lot of play-time, and the 2.3 update definitely made some great small tweaks. Most have been mentioned, but a few of the ones I've noticed that I haven't seen brought up so far are: 1) the ability to dismiss alerts one-by-one, instead of all or nothing 2) the option to create groups of apps in your apps list 3) when a text message comes back "unsent" you can hold on the specific message and have the option to resend (also delete, save, copy, etc) whereas with 2.2 you had to go back to the list of message contacts, hold on the person and select resend and it would resend all messages that hadn't gone through 4) You can choose 3 of the 4 apps to be locked to your taskbar. There are a few other things I've noticed here and there, but I can't think of them right now. Definitely WAY smoother with everything. So far, all of my apps have worked after the update.

There are a few issues I've noticed, the one that is bugging me the most so far is that shortcut to punctuation by holding the period key in the normal keyboard isn't working right for me. It pops up, but immediately selects the + and closes. Anyone else seeing this?

The FM radio app has a few nice tweaks done to it with new upate. Have the ability now to swipe through the preset stations. Also now displays the song playing if the station broadcast that info.

Have you tried Settings -> Call Settings -> Voicemail Settings and then setting you pin there after the *86 access code? You may need to insert some pauses. I use Visual Voicemail, so I have not tried this myself, but saw the setting when going through all the settings to see what was there.

Thats what in use. The pause is an option when setting the access code info.

Are you trying to use the update file that got pushed to you?

The easiest, surest, way to get you from Froyo to GB (unrooted)

NEED: RSD Lite
NEED: .340 SBF
NEED: .588 Leaked Update zip

1) SBF to .340 Froyo (unrooted)
2) on your computer rename .588 update zip from it's original name to "update".
3) Move "update.zip" to root of SD card.
4) Turn off DX
5) Turn on DX in Recovery
6) Install update.zip
7) Factory Reset
8) Reboot

Noob here.

- What is RSD Lite, and where does it come into this process? I don't see it in the 8 steps

- What is SBF?

RSD Lite is what you use to SBF...

Go to THIS THREAD to find out about RSD lite and SBF. This can seriously F' up your DX if you do something wrong... so make sure you read the instructions carefully and do exactly as they say.

All of the instructions on that thread = Step 1 for my instructions.

What app are you using for this information?

The app is called "Battery Left Widget" ...but I don't use the widget. I just use the status bar notification.

I have the notification % set for Time, update frequency at 15 minutes, and in the battery info I have calibrating checked and calibrate until accurate unchecked (so it's always calibrating for better time estimates).

Edit: oh, and the "percentage calculation" is just... current time on battery X 100 / (100 - current system battery level)

Nobody is having issues with swype and words with " 's"?

i am, but if you one by one type out the word it should add it to the dictionary. type it key by key first, then hit space, and you shouldnt have any other problems. Its always the first time you type the word that becomes an issue.

swype was being weird for me at first, but i think it was just because i had to readd everything

Notification sounds

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but when I have headphones or speakers plugged in the notification sounds comes out of the phone instead of the hradphones or speakers. Anyone know how to change this?

Some new (stock) GB features I think are REALLY cool...

-- I love the light blue and gray color theme. There are so many nice details in this theme such as shadows, the "busy" circle that visually appears to go in two different directions, and the dark notification panel.

-- Has anyone noticed the arrows that appear when you are about to move a shortcut icon or widget to the next home screen?

-- Love the little bars at the bottom of the home screens so you know where you are. Also have to mention the increase to 7 home screens is GREAT!!!!!

-- Unread text messages show up as light blue to indicate you haven't read them. Great addition!

-- I think the button lights are brighter than they were (??)

All is running smooth. Most apps are cooperative.

A note on the perpetual sync icon on the notification panel ... I wrote in other threads that I cleared the cache, did a Factory reset, reboot, etc and discovered in the reload process that the sync symbols are tied to Gmail's now-four aspects (email, contacts, calendar and BOOKS) restoring data.

For some reason, there was a hang-up in the original install process. The reset fixed it. Why? Who knows. Took a while for the sync icon to disappear after the reset, but it did and no problems since.

BTW - a clue that the perperual sync icon was tied to Gmail showed up when my contacts weren't complete on the X. Many were missing and the contacts list wouldn't sync. I could look at contacts on my Pc and they were correct. On the X, some were missing. Nothing could fix that until after the reset. Everything is current and syncs as it's supposed to do.

I love all the new stock features!

I just am sad that the CRT effect of turning on and off your screen wasn't included

I know you can add it.........but I just wish it came with it.

Oh well, lets hope for a "official" (and by official I mean ADVERTISED) update to fix that =D!
