Can anyone explain to me how to move the file to the root of my sd card? I want to try GB but don't want to kill my phone in the process.

Connect your X to the pc and select USB Mass Storage. Then go to Computer and open the Removable Disk. The main root folder will have a bunch of other folders already in there.
Just paste file and exit.

Can anyone else confirm that the Caller ID pictures are complete crap now? I noticed this when I added my Quick Contacts widget and saw that the pictures were now low quality. Somewhat pixelated and far from good looking like in Froyo.
Made a call to one of the contacts and saw that it was the same way.

Do you use SyncMyPix? If you do, go into the options and select high res photos. I've been using that app since Froyo and my pictures look great.

I'm just using stock. The widgets and ID pictures were crystal clear on Froyo. Lower quality is definitely noticeable on Gingerbread.

I CAN'T download the file from http://www.androidcentral.com/new-android-233-gingerbread-build-droid-x-reportedly-pushing-over-ai (MediaFire). Can someone please send me a link to ginger bread download. Thanks!!!!!

I haven't experienced any problems with the gps since I upgraded. Seems to actually lock in on my location with 8 meters, much faster than before. Check settings>location & security>make sure standalone gps is selected. Beyond that I don't have any other suggestions, so hopefully someone elso can provide some additional assistance.

I can confirm this as well, I just turned the setting on so I will test it and report back as i have to step out. But mine was also droping GPS, I tested Google Nav and VZ nav both kept losing their connection. I hope this setting is what fixes this I cant live with out my GPS

I had been having some problems with swype spelling words incorrectly too often. I noticed in the new GB leak that the swype sensitivity slider under the swype settings in the settings>language & keyboard> swype settings defaults at too far to the accuracy side. Moving it a bit to the left toward speed has greatly improved the swype accuracy.

Switching to the beta also helps with swype problems. It also loads much faster. Just make sure to follow the steps for installing the beta.

Installation Aborted

Hello all,

I've downloaded the new GingerBread but every time I try to install it I get an error "Installation Aborted" I even tried wiping my phone to reset it to factory settings, then tried the install again and I get the same error.... Any suggestions?

Any idea how long the update takes? Seems like it's moving kinda fast but just wondering.

It worked but I do have the sync icon. Did everyone decide the only way to get it to go away was a wipe (factory reset)?
