Gingerbread Q3

Agreed... GB will not be a drastic improvement. Icecream Sandwich on the other hand... now that's something to look forward to. You have Froyo/GB mixed with Honeycomb... that's what's going to be the game changer on how the OS looks and runs. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

But will Icecream Sandwich run on Thunderbolt? Or will Verizon delay the release of Icecream Sandwich so long that no one will even own a Thunderbolt anymore? .....just wondering.

I'd be shocked to ever see Ice Cream Sandwich on this. At the most we get 2.3.4 and that will be that. Thank god I got this on a one year contract.

Really a shame on Verizon with this phone. It was never built for 4G originally. This was suppose to be a 3G phone and come out last Fall.

It would most likely be optimized for newer devices.. I highly doubt you will see it on any phones that are out right now... especially the Thunderbolt. If it gets released the beginning of next year, then those devices being released at that time would most likely be built for it... but who knows what they have up their sleeve.

All we know right now is its being worked on and should be released sometime next year and will bring some of the features of Honeycomb that runs on tablets to the phones.

I agree on the ICS.

But I have no issues with a 2yr contract. I mean, we're already closing in on 6 months of still having the best phone on VZW. I'd guess that will hold true till approx the 8th or 9th month mark. Or longer! I don't know of one single other smartphone on VZW that can say that. Personally, I'll keep a bugfixed, mature, smooth running and stable high performance smartphone, that has all the bells and whistles I need, for a long time. In fact, I never would have upgraded my 2 year old Windows Touch Pro2 if it weren't so slow and if it had 4G. It's gonna take a new real major development in phones before I care to upgrade from the Thunderbolt. Simply higher performance wouldn't do it for me. The TBolt is plenty fast. Nope, performance is not something I'm lacking with the TBolt.

I think the TBolt has about the best track record going regarding a phone that has held off obsolescence for the longest time. And we're not "there" yet.

I saw the Vigor specs and I thought it was pretty sweet, but then I thought... "Wait a minute, they are talking quad core phones possibly by the one year mark for the Thunderbolt, maybe I'll just wait."

I mean I already told my mom that I would give her the Thunderbolt and take her upgrade that is due in October, but I told her that I may not take it in October. My wife got the Revolution and I sent my mother my wife's OG Droid and she seems to be content with that for the time being and probably will be for awhile. After all she went from a Rogue to the Droid.

So I'm more than happy with the Thunderbolt for the time being, even without GB.
