Gingerbread ready for Incredible 2 WOW?

I'll be the first to admit I'm completely crushed with this news! I was first in line to get my tb coming from my rooted Dx which ran like a dream might I add. Before that the O.G. and the blackberry storm 1 prior. Just got frustrated with the rebooting, battery etc... With the phone and had a feeling a end was nowhere near. With this being on mind I went on a vacation in ocean city for a week and sadly I will admit I'll be coming home to a fresh HTC sensation this Saturday by Verizon hello T-Mobile smh

Never again will I be the first in line for a phone. A complete debacle since day one with the Tbolt. That update were getting tonight is full of bloatware. Ive only had one reboot since the last update. We need bread not bloatware.

If for whatever reason the team responsible for the Inc 2 finished GB first, do you think they should sit on it and make Inc 2 owners wait just to make the TB owners happy? Let them do their job, I guarantee you nobody at HTC said "Hey lets just make the TB guys wait just because!" I'm sure they know how to manage their time, if anything they are far from the worst (samsung).

Hope you enjoy it. It's a very solid device and T-Mobile plans are cheaper. Even better if they have reliable signal in your area.

The real thing to say "WOW" to are some of the reactions on this thread.

If you think for a second that updates for one particular phone means that HTC or Verizon or whoever has given up on another one (i.e. the Thunderbolt), well that's just naive.

Everyone complains that they didn't test MR1 well enough and released it too early because of all the bugs it has, and then in the same breath are ticked off that they aren't rushing this update?!?!?

I know some people are frustrated, but the simple fact is that 4G LTE is different beast, so there's obviously a lot more variables/unknowns when it comes to testing OS releases. Do you really expect Verizon/HTC to just sit on updates for other devices just because they aren't ready to release one for the Thunderbolt? That really doesn't make sense.

Here's the real truth: There is a HUGE development community for the Thunderbolt, and an even larger community of "testers" (such as myself) running the custom ROMs built by those developers who have worked very hard to bring a TON of otherwise unavailable features to the Thunderbolt on some very stable ROMs. IF you are really unhappy with the level of support you're getting from HTC/Verizon, forego their support* and root your phone and manage your updates yourself. That's why I did, and my Thunderbolt is nothing short of awesome.

Just my 2?

*This is precisely why rooting your phone "voids your warranty". Neither Verizon or HTC can support software they don't approve for the device, nor should they be expected to. It doesn't mean you don't have right to assume that risk and take matters into your own hands if you're unhappy with your situation. At least that's the way I see it.

EDIT: FWIW, I'm not saying folks don't have the right to be frustrated (FAR from it), but as I see it, getting angry over other phones getting updates is on the order of comparing apples and oranges...

my Thunderbolt works great. does what I need and then some. a few hiccups on dropping the data connection sometimes but all in all a great phone. I am sure I am not the only pleased customer.

people on this thread seem to act like Verizon insulted their mothers while kicking their dogs.

.... Of course im going to keep both phones active for about a week or two just to compare the two but I already know im going to sell my tb already have a buyer lined up for 225 and im throwing in the extended battery so long big red its been real. Also t-mobile says im eligible for a full upgrade after a year and the tb was only a one year contract anyway for about 250 so I come out alright in the end I hate to do this but as of right now its necessary!

and punched a couple babies on the way to their homes.

TB update completed. Called to activate and confirmed $30.00 unlimited hotspot. New boot up screen and Verizon Account Manager works. No reboots so far. LOL Changes icon for hotspot. So far, stable.:D

To a certain extent, and please no one take this the wrong way, but I hope that a new problem stems from this update. If there were another problem that was even partially as bad as the reboot issue, I could see legitimate grounds for demanding a new phone. Call me crazy, but how much can Verizon ignore. I'm sure there is some Thunderbolt owner who is a smart enough lawyer to know how to threaten something in court. Broken promises, giving refurbed phones with the same issues you had, and a probable chance to now have new issues, among various other issues, how can Verizon just ignore all that??

/end rant

That's mostly just wishful thinking, since I wanted to wait for the Bionic, but since I didn't already have a smartphone as a phone, I had no choice but to update it I wanted to keep unlimited data.

Sign up for a OS that is better then the competition with the hook that updates don't go to everyone at once, sit and wait.

Would you prefer HTC (Who will bend over and send hookers to make their customers happy)/Verizon (that likes their customers to pay them) just release blanket versions of the OS and hope to god they work on the plethora of variously spec'd devices?

EDIT: I am on an Inspire, ATT doesn't know how to update any phone with proper capitialization. You'll get ICS before I get GB.

gingerbread has been announced for almost every new htc phone such as the desire, the incredible 2, and the sensation when will it be available on the thunderbolt? I feel like if htc have it ready for every other phone should be close for the thunderbolt.

HTC, I am sure has had it ready for some time. Verizon is another story.

Honestly I don't get why everyone is so upset for. We have an incredible development community for our Thunderbolt here at AndroidCentral and I would suggest that some of you take advantage of that. I am currently running Das bmf's gingerbread 2.3.4 Rom with sense 3.0 , I have a working Netflix App, Skype video that works absolutely perfact and I haven't had not one reboot at all since I rooted using Cory Streeter's instructions for rooting using a Mac. I would like to add that I am a complete noob and this is my first android phone coming over from the storm 2 blackberry. If it want for our guys here in this forum, I would probably be upset also but come on guys, if you all can take time to post here I'm sure you can take time to root your device. It's not as hard a some of you think.

Sorry, but you must now be banned for not being sufficiently outraged ...

I'm sorry, but this is silly. You would rather they break something else about the phone just so that someone can bring a lawsuit that will take months to settle? In the meantime, you'll be paying several months' worth of the highest wireless prices in America for a problematic phone.

My phone is running Gingerbread (DasBamf) like a dream, but for the stock users' sake, I hope tonight's update fixes every known issue so that VZW and HTC can finally focus their collective energies on delivering 2.3.x.
