Gingersnap Root Utility (one-click ROOT!!!) Multi-Platform

Hi, I'm pretty new to this whole rooting/custom rom thing, etc. I just wanted to verify how to use gingersnap. Do I download all the stuff on the computer then transfer it to my phone or what? If you could help me out with like an "incredibly Dummies" guide to Gingersnap I would greatly appreciate it. And also, once rooted how would I get a black notification bar and overclock my Optimus S? Thank You

DH8

Download to computer, plug phone in computer, run gingersnap.exe to start program on computer then hit go.
To change to black notification bar need to install a custom rom (reborn for example) BUT first you need to install a custom recovery like (Xionia recovery).
Read the post in the stickies on recovery, roms, & kernels it lists all the recoveries & roms available.
Some roms are overclocked.

As there are entirely too many pages to sift through with pats on the back, I'd like to know if this works for LG Thrive/ Phoenix?

does gingersnap work with windows 7? i have everything i need installed on my pc(windows 7) now how do i use the gingersnap, i already have it downloaded on my computer, i even transferred it to my SD card(didn't know if i was supposed to or not) plz help

wait, i just opened the gingersnap on my pc(windows 7) and it says to run the application, i have the drivers for my phone installed, have the phone connected to the pc(USB debugging enabled) and when i open gingersnap, it says i have the option to press go:) but before i do, will this work even with the VD update on my optimus S with sprint?

ok i think i figured out how to do it now, but i have two questions left, my phone has SW version VD and baseband version VD, 1st question is-will gingersnap work with those? and 2nd question is-does my battery have to be fully charged or does it matter since my phone is plugged into the computer during the process? cuz i have 55% battery life now and charging

ok i've figured out how to use gingersnap now and i have everything installed on my windows 7 computer(so i thought) when i plug my phone in, the comuter starts charging it, but it doesn't show up on (my computer) if i push enable mass storage it does tho, but i'm not supposed to have that on, when i turn on USB debugging my computer doesn't recognize my phone on (my computer) either, but i used the LG update tool and it says i have the drivers???? wtf

Windows 7 has some driver signing issues, check out This Post; it's several pages back, should help.

u think i won't have these problems using windows vista home basic?

Honestly I'm not certain.

But as my other post says. If you reboot your computer and Tap F8 on boot up you should get an advanced boot menu where you can choose the option to disable driver enforcement.

It's a temporary fix on the computers side, meaning everytime you want to connect your phone to the computer in debugging mode you will have to boot your computer in the above fashion first.

If you do that properly gingersnap should run just fine.
