Gingersnap Root Utility (one-click ROOT!!!) Multi-Platform

I need to know this as well. Lg optimus s zvd

First, download the gingerbreak.apk found over at XDA... run that.

Then use this thread as a guideline for recovery and ROM.

I would suggest the Xionia recovery found here, and Reborn ROM, found here.

You can use a different ROM in place of Reborn, that's just my personal preference. Drew's CM7 mod is pretty awesome too.

I see the LG Vortex forum uses SuperOneClick to root the VS660. Since we're talking siblings here, will Gingersnap work its magic on the Vortex?

If not, will it soon???

Hi, the gingersnap program has been running for 20 minutes and it is still saying "executing exploit". Is this normal? Can I terminate it and try again? I am using windows xp.

Drew,

Thanks for the utility. I rooted my ls670 zvc last night. I have super user on the phone now. As many others have said, I am really very new to this. I have a good grasp on computers.... but these little phones still impress and confuse me. :-)

I dodged the zvd update, so I've still have wifi tether, and havn't yet decided to go zvd and custom ROM.

My question is this, are there thing I can still download and utilize thanks to root access with my stock system?

Steve

PS- I didn't have to make a bs post to download either :-)

For some reason, it didn't work for me. Here's what I did:

1. Did a fresh reboot of my phone.

2. Ran Gingersnap

3. It moved files, executed exploit (took some time), then moved to Operation complete and triggered a reboot.

4. Attempted to make a nandroid backup from my Windows 7 command prompt and it said permission denied.

5. I then downloaded Root Checker by developer joeykrim from the Market and this is the result it gave:

Code:
Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted.

Superuser.apk - com.noshufou.android.su - is NOT installed!
The application Superuser is recommended as it provides basic security and is available for free in the Android Market

The adb binary is set to default shell user access as a standard non-root user

Standard su binary location: ls -l /system/bin/su:
/system/bin/su: No such file or directory

Standard su binary location: ls -l /system/xbin/su:
/system/xbin/su: No such file or directory

Alternate su binary location: ls -l /sbin/su:
/sbin/su: Permission denied

SU binary not found or not operating properly

Results provided by Root Checker version 3.4 from joeykrim in the Android Market - http://goo.gl/GgWae

What should I do now?

Same thing; stuck at "Executing exploit, could take a while." for about 30 minutes.

Optimus M 2.2.2 no success

Tried the following methods

Gingersnap (follow instructions to the dot )
Gingerbreak 1.2
z4root
Super one click
Androot

No success apparently all this applications get stuck on "Running exploit"
After running super one click and failed, I Try Gingersnap and coplete rooting my device, the application reboot my phone but still not rooted.

It's the closest i can get. any success on optimus m 2.2.2 let me know :(

how long did it take for the gingersnap program to complete the root process for you guys? Taking a long time for me, and it is staying saying "executing exploit could take a while"

Well i actually used gingerbreak, but if it helps at all, it only took like 3 mins.

Just download gingerbreak off the internet, install it and click root. Make sure you have USB debugging on you don't need a computer! Worked on 3 optimuses in a row!

Takes 30 seconds. I have3 optimuses on my account and I did all of them that way. Easiest phone to root now. When I got mine I did all the computer **** but that was you had to downgrade to v9 to root... Lol gingerbreak 1.2 from filecrop it downloads superuser for you and everything. After that pick a recovery then flash a rom and you're good to go. Thanks guys for all your hard work! I was lazy and didn't have my computer on me so I just did that and was done. Just wish I could root my shift this easily! Lol

Awesome piece of software. I wanted to go back to stock because I wanted everything working as intended with the phone and once I went back to stock, this was a one click deal. Now I am rooted with stock. Jst the way I want it. Thanks.:)

Trying to use for OS X. Have OS X 10.6.8 ...No devices shown, cannot find device. Have rebooted phone and computer. Do I need anything downloaded besides Gingersnap? Thanks for your help and work.

Currently in "running exploit mode", its been about 6 minutes, for those of you who CANT get the root on your Optimus M, S, or V.... could you give me (a) your andriod version (b) your model [zvc, zvd} and (c) if you have anything on your SD card when you ran root.

I followed the instructions:

LS670
2.2.2
LS670MVD_60401001
2.6.32.9 lge@android-build#2
ZVD.41B2924E
LS670ZVD

At first it started up nice and fast, but now it's been about 15 minutes... still "Executing exploit, could take a while..."

Ok so this morning I did this on my wifes phone.... briliant worked perfectly. I must have missed something tried flashing Zefie's Xionia useing the cpromp .... I have root permission for unknown but string is this:

# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2/system/system
Mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2/system/system
Usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-t type] device directory
# cat/dev/mtd/mtd2>/sdcard/recovery-stockfactory.img
Cat/dev/mtd/mtd2: not found

I have no idea if I've made a noob mistake or if I need to do something else to put the recovery on.
